I orderd on amazon and cant wait to read it. From what I hear, Telushkin is an objective author. He has some 20 bestselling books under his belt. I’ve also read many news articles quoting academics and other authors who say this is a very well reaserched, documented, articulated book.

I heard that if you buy in a crown heights or judaica type store it won’t count towards the best sellers list.

best book i have ever read on the rebbe!

freinds, this is the best book i have ever read on the rebbe. while Telushkin is not a chasid, he describes the rebbe very well. i was actually amazed at the way he told the story of kabolas hanesius with such amazing detail. also the hey teves chapter, really captivating. each page puuled me to the next, most importantly, i, as a lubavither ecucated man, realized how much about the rebbe i had not learned ort been thought in yeshiva or at home. Telushkin really got a lot of information, many inspiring stories, many critical details and much controversy. most… Read more »

    What about the rebbe's scholarship?

    What about the rebbe's scholarship?

Good book. However I am disappointed with the book. The most important part of the rebbes daily schedule and entire life and what infused all the rest– his scholarship..and in the nearly 600 pages not one chapter on the rebbes intellect or scholarship, and this book even implies that the rebbe value of scholarship and intellectualism was only for the sake of the advance of religion etc. …I beg to differ.
I think this says more about the author than about his subject.

The other two books are much better
I disagree with many things the author wrote.
In a biography you’re not supposed to add you’re own comments and details about yourself. He even adds how he personally disagrees with the Rebbe on a few aspects, and retains his differences…
And he leaves out the main things
