HaMesivta recently moved into its new location in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. Plans are in place to renovate the building to accommodate the growing number of students.
The building will house classrooms, a large shul, a game room, computer room, 2 basketball courts and more with plans to eventually open a dormitory to accommodate out of town students.
“HaMesivta is changing the way we educate out teenagers” says Rabbi Moshe Lieblich, Principal of HaMesivta. “Our first rule in education is that there are no rules and that every student is different, there is no one size fits all when dealing with human beings”.
“Our one goal is to inspire our students to have a love of Torah, love of Hashem and love for every Jew”, every human being is different and therefore needs to be inspired on their level.
Moshe Meir Katz, an alumnus of HaMesivta and a supporter, says “Rabbi Lieblich is the most forward thinking mind when it comes to educating teens these days. He understands teenagers and knows how to inspire them. He created a school that teenagers actually want to be in.”
With schools and Yeshiva buildings closed because of Covid-19, Rabbi Lieblich says they are renovating the building with the goal to be completed by September.
“We are also preparing for a possible partial opening with some students learning over zoom and alternating days for the students to come into the physical building,” he told COLlive.com.
“Coronavirus definitely changed a lot,” he says, “but like every challenge, we adjusted and changed our style of teaching and many boys are actually learning better than before the virus.”
But he says the bigger concern is the impact of the pandemic on the students themselves.
“Our teenagers were hurt spiritually more than any other age group and they will need a lot of support once this is over,” he said. “They had way too much time on their hands and will need extra guidance and coaching getting back into a “normal” schedule and lifestyle.”
He said “the principles of Chinuch didn’t change and we will be there ready to coach, guide, teach and inspire our students to have a love of Torah, love of Hashem and love for every Jew.”

They believe in their students and work with each one “al pi darka”. Its no wonder the boys have warm feelings for the school long after they graduate.
Thank you Rabbo Lieblich and all the amazing teachers!!
Nice to see! I used to walk to that shul every shabbos with Rabbi Sholom Schapiro when we were bochirim to chazer a vort fun Rebbin. The old Rabbi was Rabbi Chanes. He worked very hard to keep it going. Hatzlacha!

My father was a good friend of Rabbi Chanis. Much Hatzlacha to you!
My son started there in middle of the year, The attention given to each bochur is amazing, Rabbi Lieblich is there for each students unique needs and makes sure each student is reaching their full potential.
Wishing them all the hatzlacha at the new location
As education gets worse and worse in crown hights, I never thought that the Jewish community of crown hights would step out of their bubbles and actually do something about it. I am pleased to see that Rabbi Lieblich has taken the first step towards changing Crown hights education with his excellent program for every type of student, regardless of their state of wealth, health, intellect etc. I hope the other schools of CH will see the masterpiece that Rabbi Lieblich created and follow suit. But as I said before the people of crown hights live in bubbles, so I highly… Read more »
much hatzlacha Rabbi!
This is a yeshiva that sees every Talmid as a gem and brings out the potential of every talmid.
There are many yeshivas that claim to treat every bochur how THEY need to be treated. HaMesivta does that with a full heart and chasidisher neshama
Rabbi Lieblich and staff at Hamisivta really care about each of the boys. They work with each individual to what they need. This building will iyh allow them to grow and reach more boys. Hazlacha rabah and thank you for all your hard work and devotion.
Happy parents!
I’m a student in Hamesivta and I could state that it’s the best and most caring yeshivah.

I believe this building is what’s known as Rabbi Kevelson’s shul from way back in the 60’s or perhaps even earlier, when I moved there. Its located in the high East 80’s, I believe. Hatzlocha rabba. I’ve heard of several other chasidischer yeshivas opening in old shul buildings in Canarsie going back quite a few years. Too bad the neighborhood isn’t what it used to be in its glory days
There are not enough words to describe the kindness of Rabbi Lieblich.
I was in his school for 3 years and he was nothing but nice to me; I consider him as a second father to me. I don’t know what other schools would have taken me in with my behavior. I wish him the best in everything he does.
All the best
my son likes going to yeshiva. He learned a lot this year. He improved his gemara skills. His teachers really care about how he doing. Especially now during the pandemic.
Rabbi Leiblich and the Rebbeim in Hamesivta are excellent mechanchim. The love and devotion they give to every student is exemplary. My son enjoys going to yeshiva and learning. Furthermore, being home and listening to the remote learning taking place is unbelievable. As a parent. I enjoy listening to the chassidus shiur daily. Kol hakovod.
Hamesivta is known for its amazing dedicated staff who care for the success of every student.
Bh my son is having a great experience, is motivated to learn, and has made many friends.
