A photo has been shared on social media showing the packaging of the product “Boneless Sliced Hardwood Smoked Ham Steak.”
Under the brand of PICS owned by the Golub Company; Price Chopper in Schenectady, New York, it bore the symbol of the OU, the world’s largest kosher certification agency.
“Kosher when Moshiach (comes),” one person wrote. “Maybe he came (and) we didn’t hear yet.” Others suspected it was photoshopped.
In a statement released on Monday, June 7, the Orthodox Union’s kosher division said: “OU – The Orthodox Union does not certify PICS Ham. Some packaging bears an unauthorized OU. This product is being withdrawn from the marketplace.”

I Look at the HECHSER (kosher sign) if I would use o u and I would see a nice pack of cold cuts (thinking it’s probably turkey) I would get it.
How could you ever buy something without knowing what it is? How can you see the hechsher without looking at the package?
Dr Lo Tov is at it again
Lol
Who In CH would rely on the OU for a meat heksher anyway?
What do you imagine makes your favorite hechsherim any better than the OU? Do you think the OU rabbonim are less yirei shomayim?! Less careful?! Less knowledgeable?!
You do realize that the different hashgachas overlap in the supervising kashrus inspectors they use?
Sometimes, one rav/inspector goes to a plant representing multiple hechshers at the same time.

Would such a thing EVER happen with CHK? No. And that is THE reason you only rely on it, not on OU. OU has become so big and commercial, there is much more issue of fraud. Any hechsher close to home has to be better than the big commercial ones
