What would it be like to grow up in a place where there is no kosher food readily available, it rains for months on end, and there are no Jewish children to play with?
This is daily life for young Mendel Raichman of Manaus, Brazil. His parents moved on shlichus to the Amazon five years ago to establish a Chabad House and bring fruition to the Rebbe’s vision of spreading Judaism to the furthest corners of the world.
Life is definitely not easy, but they are there for an important mission and are proud of what they accomplish.
One of the biggest challenges of living in such a far-off place, for both the parents and children, is the lack of a formal Jewish education for their children. In the past, many Shluchim had to dedicate enormous amounts of time and resources to educate their children. Now, with the Nigri International Shluchim Online School, even these children who live so far away are able to participate in a classroom and have friends – all without compromising their education at any level.
The online school currently has 3 different divisions in 60 different countries, with over 775 children enrolled. Thanks to the success of our recent Charidy campaign, the school is well positioned to grow and improve on the important service they offer.
