A man’s car was stolen after he left it attended with the keys in the ignition, but was able to track it down thanks to a built-in GPS system, police said.
The 30-year-old Crown Heights man told police he left his 2013 Kia Optima sedan parked, running and unlocked outside of 665 Crown St. between Troy and Schenectady avenues around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 26.
As he returned to the car, he saw two men get into it and drive away, he told police.
The man then activated the GPS system in the vehicle and followed the signal to Nostrand Avenue and Fenimore Street where he saw the two men driving his car.
He then called 911 and responding officers arrested the pair. The two 18-years-olds were charged with grand larceny in the third degree, among other counts, court records show.
no, he probably was not.
To leave the car unlocked and running in CH ?
It would.be just to make a YouTube video with something very scary inside and see the reaction of 100 thieves
a new meaning to the motel 6 slogan:
“we leave the lights on for you”
What they were wearing two pairs of gloves?
he probably was giving something or picking something up and was watching his car a whole time and only turned away for a second
We can leave our cars unlocked and running and not worry…
its partially his own fault for leaving the car on running
I’m happy he got it back, but how stupid can you be?
what did he expect, leaving the car running?!
