Among the many Hakhel gatherings that are taking place in London this year, a large crowd gathered on at Heichal Menachem in Golders Green on Motzei Shabbos in honor of Tes/Yud Kislev as well as a Siyum Harambam.
The event was chaired by Rabbi Shmuel Zajac. The crowd was first addressed by Rabbi Yitzchok Meir Hertz, Rov of Anash and Rosh Yeshiva.
Rabbi Motti Gruzman, one of the kollel yungerliet in the newly established kollel in Stamford Hill, was mesayem the Rambam with a clear pipul on the last few Halachos of the Rambam, based on the Rebbe’s sichos.
To begin the new cycle of Rambam, the MC called up Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gordon, mashpia of the Yeshiva Gedola and thanked Rabbi Gordon for all the other occasions that he visits the Shul and inspires Anash who daven there. In his eloquent way, Rabbi Gordon taught the assembled how within the first two Halachos of Rambam lie the deepest teachings of Chassidus and called upon the crowd to strengthen in the learning of Rambam.
The guest speaker for the evening was Rabbi Reuven Leigh, shliach to the medieval city of Cambridge. Rabbi Leigh addressed the theme of the day, the Mitteler Rebbe and the Chag Hageulah. With a short but clear history of the events we are celebrating, Rabbi Leigh also stressed the importance of living in a constant state of Chassidus in a physical world, as personified by the Mitteler Rebbe.
After a note of thanks to the sponsors, Dayan Levi Yitzchok Raskin was honored with bentching, after which many of the assembled stayed till late at night for the “informal” part of the Farbrengen.
