How provocative is a mezuzah?
The spiritual Jewish protection for the home was deemed an unworthy item for an apartment building in Vienna, Austria and instructed to be removed immediately.
Sebestyen Fiumei was told by his landlord that the mezuzah placed on his doorpost and the Israeli flag displayed at the window of his apartment must be taken down or face eviction.
Fiumei said the building administrator conveyed the message that the flag “hurts the feelings of a neighbor in the building and that I should remove it,” according to The Blaze.
“Instead of being a good Ghettojude [ghetto Jew], I sent an e-mail to the administrator and to the p. tenant [from whom he is subletting] in which I pointed out how incorrect and sad their demand is in today’s Europe, where even in recent months several attacks have taken place against the Jewish community’s members, who were indicating themselves as Jewish, by e.g. wearing a Kippah, or going to a synagogue,” he wrote.
Fiumei said that in response, the tenant he’s subleasing from gave him the choice of taking down the flag or moving out from the apartment located in Leopoldstadt, a Jewish populated neighborhood of Vienna.
The art student added that “I am also sure that if I had hung any other UN country’s national banner, I wouldn’t have received any comments like this.”
The Jewish community in Austria has reported a 100 percent increase of anti-Semitic incidents last year, the European Jewish Press reports.
I’m so glad you said that so people could understand what’s wrong with that way of thinking.
After all, ahavas yisrael comes from ahavas Hashem; so if you don’t feel sympathy to a fellow jew, it’s high time for a cheshbon nefesh..
In the years 1919-1920, this was a time known as the “White Terror.” During this time, angry at the Communists, and losing over half their territory in 1920 (forced on them by the “Treaty of Trianon”), they murdered 5,000 people, 3,000 Jewish.
The Rebbe was so dead-set against celebrating that day that when a mosad held an event at a hall whose address was on a Rechov Ha’atzma’ut, the Rebbe ordered them not to print the address in the program book.
And when the printer of the Chabad calendar insisted on marking 5 Iyyar as Yom Ha’atzma’ut, or else he would refuse to print it, the Rebbe refused and would not compromise in any way.
So a good chossid does not celebrate this day.
I still have my little flags on my balcony from Yom Haatzmaut. That doesn’t make a bad Jew or a bad Chasid, I just believe in acknowledging what my country has done for us. Like the Israeli govt or not (I don’t) all this garbage out Zionism being klippa etc etc is just that – garbage. As for #2 – you disgusting, rude, hatefilled person – you think you are frum? No you’re not. You may think you keep 612 mitzvot, but you are definitely miss the mark in Ahavat Yisrael. Vienna – a horrible city, I know it well,… Read more »
One is a mitzvah
The other definitely not a mitzvah,
Don’t anyone forget that zionism is kefirah and our Rabbeim were 100% against it. The Rebbe would never let a Lubavitcher mosad display this flag. But what #2 is forgetting is that this is all very well when the criticism is coming from a frummer yid, who believes that we are in golus, and that soon Hashem will take us out of golus, and says three times a day “vekabtzeinu yachad mei’arba kanfos ho’oretz le’artzeinu”. Such a person has the right to say that a yid should not fly this flag. But when a goy is against zionism, he is… Read more »
Then they would be happy
Your post is offensive, the reason that some Jews wave the Israeli flag is not always in support of Zionism but as a way to show they are Jewish and proud – just like sports fans wear their teams logos and fly flags, just like in the United States so many homes have the national flag flying on the front lawn – so too Jews want to identify with who they are & therefore wear a Magaan David, or Chai or fly an Israeli flag (& this in his own home). Why should Jews not be allowed to identify with… Read more »

Your are a disgusting person , if it wouldn’t be for the state of Israel you wouldn’t be able to walk in the streets today
The hatred is in their blood! When will Jews come to that realization ?
you are such an offensive individual and by the way, jews can be supportive of the holy land.Zionists also include many frum people like it or not.But the real oxymoron is you and synonymous with true judaism which u obviously lack,
The “Israeli” flag has no business in a Jewish home. If this person had any sense they would have left the flag in the garbage where it belongs.
Jew or Zionist, pick one.
Wow. This is shocking. They don’t like Jews in Austria?
