Israeli General Yoel Strick, who commands the Ground Forces Command, recently concluded a trip to New York during which he visited Lubavitch World Headquarters.
Strick’s visit last week was timed before Rosh Hashana, during which he visited the Rebbe‘s Ohel in Cambria Heights, Queens. Accompanied by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Ofen, active in the IDF, Strick prayed for his family, soldiers and the country.
He also visited 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights where he heard from Rabbi Chaim Boruch Halberstam and Rabbi Mendel Aisenbach, both Israeli-born, about the Rebbe and the activities of Chabad.
After visiting the Rebbe’s Room and the WLCC broadcasting room, Strick surprised his hosts by offering to sound the shofar himself which he ended up doing. He also put on Tefillin there and noted how impressed he was at the sight of the many bochurim learning in the 770 Yeshiva.
He also visited the Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library and heard from the chief librarian Rabbi Berel Levine about the Chabad-Lubavitch dynasty and interesting artifacts that are currently on display. He also chatted with activist Yaacov Behrman and Tishrei guests.
