This past week, COLlive.com reported that questions surrounding the authenticity of many Chabad artifacts that are being sold in Judaica auction houses and originating from Shaul Shimon Deutsch, a Boro Park resident who titled himself the Liozna Rebbe and was embroiled in legal woes over theft.
The following is a statement by the Genazym auction house:
“In 2020, Genazym auction house was approached with three unique items of the Chabad Dynasty, all with a letter from Barry Gur Arye stating that he gave them to Rabbi Deutsch.
“Following the success of the auction, Genazym was approached with more similar items. These items seemed suspicious to Genazym’s experts and it declined to sell further any items from Rabbi Deutsch.
“Genazym shared their doubts with the clients and offered the clients full reimbursement.
“In addition, Genazym shared their suspicions with other auction houses as well. None of the suspicious items sold in public auction have anything to do with Genazym.”
This is why everyone trusts gnuzim, their due diligence and their great efforts to check the authenticity of every item makes them above all everyone else and that’s why they have the greatest reputation in the business
@abe BREUER! well said!
Genazym and Sothebys are reputable Auction Houses. Why are other auction houses that purposely sell these fraudulent
Items not held to account?
Kuddos for Genazym for respecting the Jewish Antiquity market!
