Shlucha Goldie Plotkin of Chabad of Markham, Ontario, received the heartbreaking letter below, which “broke my heart so intensely that I decided to do something about it. But I can’t do it on my own. It takes a village to raise a child…please share the load with me,” she says.

I am a single mother of five children. I am hoping you can find it in your heart to help me in my hour of need. My eldest son was diagnosed with Autism disorder at the age of 4.
We have been struggling with his oppositional and aggressive behavior for years and now that he has become a pre-teen it has gone out of control. I was forced to get him full time help and it has come to the point that we had to send him to a special school who can deal with his aggression, anxiety attacks and addictions.
I can’t do this alone and I am, therefore, asking from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, empathy and generosity. The school we found that should work best for him is in Israel. It is called Matara.
This is a school that specializes with children like mine. They have an amazing team of therapists, Doctors and social workers who specialize in helping teenagers with Autism.
This school provides, psychiatrists, counseling, therapy, and lots of activities that will help him integrate into society. Which is ultimately our goal.
The only negative about this situation is the price tag…US $60,000. if I don’t raise this tuition, they will not keep him in the program and he will be sent home.
I am worried if that does happen he will be back in the streets and I am petrified what will happen to him.
May G-d bless you for your care and generosity and grant you a Sweet New Year and blessings for only good things in your life for you and your loved ones.
How can we donate in US dollars?
