Sometimes with your hand to test
May 18, 2016 1:23 pm

Sometimes a rip current can be felt with your hand or shoe on shore.
It might cause one to feel off balance slightly when the water covers your shoe….or with your hand, you feel like you want to take it out ….

How to survive a rip current - CBS article
May 18, 2016 11:27 am

When people think of dangers in the ocean, sharks may be the first thing that comes to mind (especially given this summer’s spate of shark attacks off North Carolina). But it turns out that one of the most dangerous things in the water is a rip current. According to the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), more than 100 people nationwide die every year after getting caught in a rip current, and at least 80 percent of lifeguard rescues are due to rip currents. “Rip currents are fairly common because sandbars are constantly shifting and changing based on the weather,” Tom… Read more »

rip tides are treacherous,
May 18, 2016 10:00 am

Unfortunately, one does not have to go so far out into the water to get into major trouble. at the beaches in Israel, the mediterranian, it is known for the strong currents to be so strong, that red flags are up all over the place and lifeguards are yelling all the time for people not “to drift” in certain areas which is so easy to do not davka btw…the danger is ever present, even close to the shore. . This is such tragic news, BDE

Rip tides are common and dangerous
May 18, 2016 8:47 am

Swimming in the ocean and vast lakes can be very dangerous even for people that know how to swim. A rip tide is when water comes from underneath and drags the person out. Most people try to fight it and can’t. Research what to do in a rip tide.

There’s a reason there’s a sign not to swim in certain spots (which is what they were doing), let’s not use halacha to do stupid things, that’s called a chosid shoteh.

What were they doing at the beach?

Ad Mosai? Ad Mosai?
May 17, 2016 10:16 pm

Let’s have a lot of Kavana when we say the words in Shemona Esrai – את צמח דוד עבדך מהרה תצמיח – לישועתך קוינו כל היום & ותחזינה עינינו בשובך לציון ברחמים Meaning we are awaiting Moshiach every moment of the day. Let’s “remind” Hashem that in Golus we have many trials and tribulations as well as us not being able to serve Him with the complete 613 Mitzvos! We want and we NEED Moshiach Now! Then we will sit down and talk and Hashem could give us all the explanations… Then shower us with Brochos Ad Bli Dai!!
