American billionaire entrepreneur and real estate investor David Lichtenstein will be the guest speaker of the gala banquet of International Kinus Hashluchim.
The banquet gathers Chabad rabbis and supporters from around the world in a lavish and celebratory event saluting the inspiration of the Rebbe and the dedication of his Shluchim.
It will be held this year at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, NJ, and will include speeches, feature videos, music and dancing.
Lichtenstein, founder and CEO of The Lightstone Group, first racked up $89,000 in credit card debt to purchase a two-story, multi-family home in New Jersey in 1986, according to Forbes.
Today, his Lightstone Group oversees some 15,000 rental units across 80 properties across 28 states. He also developed a millenial-focused city hotels with Marriott, called Moxy.
Lichtenstein is also a known Torah scholar, and the founder of the popular Halacha Headlines podcast, in which he invites various gedolim and experts on a topic of discussion each week, in Question and Answer style shiurim, to work through the halachic nuances of each issue.
“Mr. Lichtenstein is an extremely innovative businessman and a tremendous Ba’al Tzedakah,” organizers of the Kinus from Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch said in a statement.
“He is widely known for his popular weekly radio show and podcast Headlines focusing on contemporary Halachic debates relating to hot button issues. He has written several Seforim, including Mishna Acharona on the Mishna Berura and three volumes of Headlines.
“Mr. Lichtenstein will address the Kinus, highlighting his inspiration from observing and experiencing the Rebbe’s Shluchim around the world.”
