WHY R' Mendel's Nigun?
May 29, 2009 11:21 pm

If the nigun (#4) Belongs to Chonye Marozov why call it “R’ Mendel’s Nigun” Call it “R’ Chonyes Nigun”.

Rabbi JJ Hecht
May 27, 2009 5:48 pm

So the story goesthat Reb Yisroel Jacobson was farbrenging with the bochurim including young Rabbi Hecht and introduced the niggun”Yankele Yankele” specifically to give chizuk to him. Later this song became an unofficial theme song for him and many recall him literally leaping in the air when singing this beautiful niggun.
