After a year–long wait and a successful school year, boys everywhere are fast turning their attention to the coming summer; where to go, which friends they plan to bunk with and the myriads of supplies they expect to bring along (and parents hoping that there will be room to pack toothpaste and toothbrush).
Yes, camp is just around the corner but the administration of CGI Florida boys overnight camp have long been at work in preparing what already promises to be its best summer yet. A responsible and talented set of Head Staff and staff have been secured while plans for several new, camp-wide initiative (including those in the spirit of Hakhel) are expected to enhance an already meaningful and fun-filled program.
“Everything that you have come to expect from a summer in Camp Gan Israel Florida will be there,” explained Executive Director Rabbi Yossi Biston. “A meaningful davening experience; child-centric meals in plenty serviced by our own Chef-Nissen; clean, central-air conditioned bunkhouses; spacious playing fields and activities. It’s all there.
“And at the core of it all: an unbridled and organic Chassidic experience, infused with a pride of who we are, as Yidden and Chassidim of the Rebbe.”
Although a mere 65 minute drive from the local Miami community, CGI Florida has opened its doors to campers from the world over. Past summers have seen boys from as far as Eretz Yisroel, Russia and Venezuela. All were welcomed and all refused to leave when camp ended – a testament to its spirit of Ahavas Yisroel.
“Treating everyone with dignity and caring for the physical and spiritual needs of campers and staff alike are the first priority,” added Rabbi Yossi Goldblatt, director of CGI Florida. “When vetting prospective staff, this is something that is very important; having a consistent schedule where campers get up and go to sleep the same time and that the hygiene of each camper is cared for at all times. All the above contributes to having a happy camper.
“Our Head Counselors for the summer, Doni Blotner (Worcester, Massachusetts) and Yossi Klein (Manchester, England) have both served in CGI Florida as Counselors and Learning Teacher and are familiar with what makes us special. We look forward to seeing what new elements they, together with the wonderful staff they have selected, will bring this coming summer.”
A wonderful learning program, prepared by the camp’s Learning Director, Dovid Goldberg (Toronto, Canada) also promises to deliver a stimulating and interactive experience.
This is in addition to all the staples that CGI Florida has come to be known. This includes their popular Mishnayos Be’al Peh and Tzivos Hashem Programs, legendary and educational ‘Rebbe Sets’, camp-wide contests and competitions, trips and rewards that are offered throughout the summer.
Registration is still open and offered to boys between the ages of 8-12. Space is limited and registration has traditionally closed between Lag B’Omer and Shavuous.
