Chabad of the Five Towns always strives to bring innovative programs and events to the Five Towns community. This past Shabbos stands out as a unique experience.
Hundreds joined at Chabad for a successful and inspirational Shabbos with Chazzan Bentzion Miller accompanied by Shimmy Miller and his choir.
The inspiration continued at a special Melaveh Malkah hosted by Sholom and Pessy Jacobs.
More than 100 people enjoyed a kumzitz with Chazzan Miller and the choir. Shmuel Jacobs, who has a passion for music just like his father Sholom, led some of the singing with his sweet and pure voice. It was an evening thouroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
In regard to the special Shabbos weekend, Rabbi Zalman Wolowik, director of Chabad of the Five Towns, pointed out that the timing was perfect for bringing people together.
“This is a very special year in the Jewish calendar. It is the year following Shemitah which is known as the Year of Hakhel—Gatherings. In 1988, the Lubavitcher Rebbe encouraged all people to utilize the Year of Hakhel, to make as many gatherings as possible, as an expression of unity and to enhance Yiras Shamayim.”
Chazzan Miller was especially impressive as a veteran chazzan who davened during the years of the great chazzonim.
