Today is the first Yahrtzeit of Rabbi Yosef Goldstein, known to many as “Uncle Yossi.”
A veteran educator, Rabbi Goldstein inspired generations of young and old with his stories and parables, but to us in JEM he was so much more.
A pioneer in filming the Rebbe on a consistent basis, it is thanks to him that many priceless moments from 1950s and 60s were captured on film.
Thank G-d, his spirit was contagious, and several of his children also recorded many hours of audio, film and video. Significant portions have graciously been passed to JEM, and we consider it a privilege to have shared many of the Goldstein family’s treasures with the world.
All of Klal Yisroel is indebted to “Uncle Yossi.” The greatest tribute to him is the fact that thousands of people around the world are able to watch videos of the Rebbe thanks to him.
Here a video he filmed by Yossi Goldstein on 19 Kislev, 5728 (1967), restored by JEM’s Living Archive (featured on Living Torah program 430):
In his inimitable style, Reb Yossel shares a memory of the Rebbe with the My Encounter team (featured on Living Torah program 262):
Uncle yossi has printed hundreds of Mesibos shabbos guides , where can I get them they are so helpful
That is wonderful!
Please let us know when they are available.
To all Children who were guests on the Radio show, you will soon be able to obtain the recording of the show of your particular week!
stay tuned
It looks like it is a rally and the Rebbe is giving him rolls of dimes to give out to the Madridchim.
As far as I am aware, the series of records, followed by cassets, of Stories by Uncle Yossi, was the first professionally recorded Jewish & Chasidishe production for children’s kosher and inspirational learning & entertainment. This was a real treat as as a child growing up with them. Uncle Yossi paved the way for all the others that followed, till today. What a tremendous merit! May we be reunited with Uncle Yossi very soon with the speedy coming of Moshiach!
sounds like the story of the tzadik of Premishle who climbed a cliff nobody else could and then said az miz tzugebunden limaala falt men nisht arup
