What better time to conclude a year of learning, maturing and breaking free of old patterns of thought than to gather with your friends and rabbis (older friends) for a Yud Bais tammuz farbrengen-banquet?
Concluding its 14th year at the forefront of serving bochurim who don’t “fit the mold”, the banquet opened with a thought of the Rebbe from Rabbi Pinni Levitin, followed by warm words of encouragement in applying lessons learned through the summer and beyond, from Rabbi Yossi Schulman.
A wonderful video presentation was then shown, produced by students Moshe Lokeinsky and Zevy Blokh, to great applause. The video can be viewed below.
Following a siyum by student Yossi Isseroff, Rabbi Mendel Zirkind offered deep insight into what we can take with us from Parshas Balak.
He then introduced Shliach Yosef Peysin as a newly ordained Rabbi. Yosef then shared his own feelings on what 2 years in Wilkes-Barre has meant to him, stressing how Wilkes-Barre has become his home.
Student Moshe Fehler then decided to take the podium so that he could offer his appreciation for a great year and presented Uri Perlman with a beautiful work of art in gratitude.
Rabbi Uri Perlman concluded the banquet by talking to each bochur in yeshivah about what they have discovered over the year about themselves, and how to continue taking steps forward.
As Bais Menachem looks towards next year welcoming new staff and students, a series of new extracurricular programs will be introduced to give new, individualized opportunities for growth. These will include music lessons, a videography course, and support for those wishing to expand their artistic horizons. Following on the success of last year’s curriculum covering the basics of halacha from the source in Torah through Chinuch, Rambam and Shulchan Aruch, a new course will be added: an in-depth study of each parsha.
Each year, the students of Bais Menachem can attest to their growth in their appreciation of Yiddishkeit and personal character development. Yet this doesn’t come easy.
The consistent success of the students of Bais Menachem is dependent on the generous support of the worldwide Lubavitch community, in helping to provide the resources necessary for each student to find their path in Yiddishkeit and life. We invite you to join us in welcoming young men to participate in all that Jewish life has to offer.

They have made the people that have been tossed out of society and given up on, people who are warm and caring and contribute greatly to their respective communities. Now these “dropouts” have become a strong and wanted part of any community and organization who have a healthy and vibrant outlook. Keep… Read more »
