The Shaffer family is opening their late father’s vast and eclectic library to the use of participants of the International Kinus Hashluchim that is currently taking place in Brooklyn, NY.
Their late father, R’ Gedalia Shaffer OBM, was a known scholar who spent his life amassing knowledge through endless learning and exploring the world. He was always available to share insight and guidance.
His family members recently reorganized the library that contains thousands of books of all genres and languages. It includes volumes of commentaries on Torah and Gemara, to halachic responsa and Kabbalah, Chakira and Hashkafa.
“It’s a very pleasant space for learning as well as meetings,” said his wife Mrs. Bronya Shaffer, a noted lecturer on Jewish women’s issues and as a personal counselor and mentor for women.
Shaffer said the library at 711 Montgomery Street will be open this Shabbos morning from 6:30 AM and on for Shluchim wishing to begin the day with learning on their own or with a colleague or friend.
The titles in the library were recently catalogues and can be searched at http://shafferlibrary.blogspot.com/
Really???? Maybe change of floor but the spirit in those rooms are the spirit of Gedalya Shaffer! It is truly amazing that Bronya has been able to keep the essence of Gedalya even till today without it being melancholy by making his library vibrant. Hashem should bless the whole family

איזה רעיון נפלא! כל הכבוד למשפחת שייפער
and I loved sitting in her wonderful home for classes. It made me think what kind of home I want and to be surrounded by all these sforim and so much knowledge perfectly expressed who she and her husband truly are. I can’t wait for my husband to get our shlichus and for him to be one of the lucky men to come on Shabbos morning!
Such a beautiful idea. and so befitting l’ilyui nishmas R Gedalyia Shaffer. I am awestruck by the brilliance of this idea on so many levels — it gives kovod to R Gedaliah Shaffer, it’s an opportunity for people to avail themselves of a tremendous precious collection of Seforim, it’s thinking about the Shluchim, it’s promoting study and learning, it’s Ahavas Yisroel, it’s making your home a “Bais Vaad Lachachmim” — it’s just very beautiful! I won’t be coming to make use of the library (I’m not a Shliachl, and a resident of CH) but I feel good just from reading… Read more »
