Excitement continues to mount for the upcoming 5th annual Find Success in E-Commerce Expo and Conference, the largest e-commerce event for the tri-state area’s Jewish community, taking place on February 6th at The Palace in Brooklyn.
The six hour long event begins at 4 PM and will feature four separate tracks tailored to Amazon newbies, experienced Amazon sellers, e-tailers and those interested in business development. The program will be broken up into three separate two hour long segments, beginning with seminars featuring back to back sessions in each of the four tracks followed by a trade show and buffet dinner. The expo will conclude with a CEO forum and twelve breakaway roundtable sessions, giving participants an opportunity to hone in on areas that will best help them grow their own businesses.
Eli Nash, CEO of JEG & Sons which wholesales unlocked phones, is one of four panelists featured in the CEO forum. With nearly ten years of marketing and fulfillment experience, Nash will be addressing healthy growth in e-commerce, which can be very different from that of a brick and mortar business.
“E-commerce is a unique animal,” explained Nash. “The barrier to entry is often low; the competition is fierce and the instinct is to grow as fast as possible at all costs. However, there are also many transactions and it’s impossible to keep track of everything in your head. Everyone is racing to make it easier and easier for the customer to do business with them and provide them with the best in class service – often at the expense of the vendor.”
With Amazon and eBay placing increased emphasis on simplified customer returns and American Express and Mastercard offering aggressive purchase protection, vendors can often find themselves in precarious positions, observed Nash.
“Understand your numbers; know every leak in your business and grow at the right pace,” advised Nash. “Growth that is too fast is often not sustainable.”
The CEO forum will be moderated by Ron Hans, vice president, markets, PCS Wireless and will also include Saul N. Friedman, CPA, senior partner at SNFCO, Victor Rosenman, CEO and founder, Feedvisor, and Chaim Pikarski, CEO of CA Marketing.
Shea Schneider, co-founder of Elyon Products, a wholesale distributor of consumer electronics, said that he found last year’s conference to be an invaluable experience and he looks forward to returning this year to further broaden his horizons.
“While the opportunity to network was, of course, very important, the expo created a space where young entrepreneurs were able to engage veterans, ask questions in an open forum and get answers that can be extremely helpful,” said Schneider. “I highly recommend the conference to anyone in the industry in any capacity because it is a chance to be fully, fully involved and a great opportunity to talk to people whose time is extremely valuable.”
Also returning to the conference is Mayer Schwartz, who found that his participation last year was extremely to beneficial to his business as a home goods importer.
“I was able to talk to the speaker after the session and ask him questions and he gave me his contact information which was very helpful,” said Schwartz. “In addition to gaining a lot of information on quality and sourcing and the process, I also was able to watch the session again online and review it again later.”
Schwartz’s wife will be joining him this year at the expo to learn ways to expand her own business.
“My wife is going to go to the Amazon workshop and I am going to pick up more knowledge,” said Schwartz. “Every time I go I meet more people. It is really a great experience.”
The conference is organized by the Crown Heights Young Entrepreneurs, Jewish Community Council of Marine Park, The Jewish Entrepreneur, Emergency Parnassa Initiative and Boro Park Jewish Community Council, and sponsored by PCS Wireless, Saul N. Friedman & Co, SellerCloud, Focus Camera, COLlive and Ptex Group.
