On Monday, June 2, over 250 community members and friends gathered at the beautiful Crystal Plaza in Livingston, for the Annual Dinner of Chabad of West Orange, entitled “Lamplighters – A Time For Action.”
Launching their $3,000,000 capital campaign to purchase a new facility, Chabad of West Orange honored Mr. and Mrs. Paul and Celine Feinberg, Mr. and Mrs. Steven and Georgia Solotoff, Ms. Jodi Solotoff, and Mrs. Roz Moskovitz Bielski.
The evening included a substantial cocktail hour and sit-down dinner accompanied by Bnai Jazz, a video presentation, awards and an address by Assemblyman Thomas Giblin.
Founded by Rabbi Boruch and Devorah Klar as a beginner’s service at Congregation AABJ&D, Chabad of West Orange later moved to the basement of Lubavitch Center Judaica.
At that time, Rabbi Mendy and Altie Kasowitz were hired to help grow the Shul, community outreach programs, events and classes.
In September 2005, Chabad moved to 395 Pleasant Valley Way. The space was outfitted with warm colors, bright sconces, gorgeous furnishings and beautiful hand-made stained glass windows. While membership continued to increase the size of the room did not. Chabad has, thank G-d, outgrown the current space and has begun the exciting process of securing 401 Pleasant Valley Way and turning it into a Chabad Center that can properly accommodate the rapidly expanding community.
The existing structure is currently divided into several offices. The plan is to begin by using one large space for Chabad’s current activities. Over time, with G-ds help, Chabad will expand and ultimately renovate the entire building. The 13,000 square ft. facility will be home to a Synagogue, Senior Center, Hebrew School, Youth Lounge, Kitchen and Lecture Hall where all are welcomed to pray, grow, experience, socialize, laugh and study – where body and soul are nurtured.
Chabad of West Orange is under auspices of Lubavitch of Essex County, an affiliate of the Rabbinical College of America – Morristown.
Since opening its doors, Chabad-Lubavitch of Essex County has reached many thousands, creating life-changing programming, experiencing phenomenal growth and responding to the needs of the community in so many areas.
This is your opportunity to be one of the founding partners in building the new home for this special organization; Chabad of West Orange.
