The Rebbe Rashab said, “The chassid creates his surroundings.” A true chassid can be a light – a good influence on everyone and everything around him. Generations of chassidim have been educated toward this goal, in Yeshivos Tomchei Temimim and in our high schools and seminaries that strive for pure kedushah.
A project is being launched in France that puts a new spin on this adage: The environment makes the chassid.
Beth Rivkah Institutions announces the opening of the first seminary for Hebrew-speakers in Europe. The Beth Rivkah campus is in the Brunoy neighborhood of southeast Paris, a place that, the Rebbe declared, is “like Lubavitch.” It’s a neighborhood from which have sprung many generations of shluchim, rabbanim and talmidei chachamim who have established Jewish homes that are guiding lights for Am Yisrael.
Hebrew-speaking High School graduates are invited to develop themselves personally and academically, and to grow in Chassidic knowledge and virtues, in the new “Seminary in a Chassidic Shtetel.”
The Seminary offers a rich program. The emphasis is on small classes with quality students in a family-like setting which will enable each individual to immerse herself completely in self-development. The professional staff that oversees the classes includes Rav Uzan, principal; Rav Nachum Pinson, shaliach and lecturer; Rav Zalman Segal, mashgiach ruchnius; Rav Menachem Mendel Attal, shaliach and lecturer; Rav Yechiel Menachem Mendel Kalmenson, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivos Tomchei Temimim, Lubavitch; Mrs. Hani Kalmenson, principal of the Hebrew-speakers division of the seminary; Mrs. Hani Wolf, teacher and lecturer in Beis Rivkah High School; Mrs. Dina Segal, speaker and educator; and others.
The curriculum will combine lectures with invigorating seminars that encourage vivid and meaningful learning. There will be group bonding activities with a Chassidic flavor throughout the year – assemblies, projects, social activities, and more. Our dedicated teaching staff, together with our warm counselors, will supervise all activities and provide personal warmth and caring for each student, 24/7!
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for twelfth-grade graduates to enjoy personally empowering experiences,” Mrs. Chani Kalmenson says. “Our students will connect with other girls their age from all over the world, and the pastoral setting and the idyllic educational environment will allow each student to immerse herself in personal growth, discover her talents and promote her personality, which will find expression in building a Jewish home and, possibly, in shlichus.
“The administrative and educational staff were carefully chosen so that each one provides a personal example of the richness of a shlichah’s life and of a Jew who is completely and lovingly dedicated to her life’s task. A school that lives and breathes shlichus provides the ideal and most comfortable conditions for the daughters of shlichim.”
Beth Rivka Seminary for Hebrew-speaking girls offers a one-year-track and an expanded, three-year-track that prepares students to become teachers. The seminary has aroused great interest in our community, especially among the families of shlichim all over the world.
Registration is under way. We are actively seeking top-quality Chassidic students for our inaugural year.
