More than 200 Bochurim, guests and Anash residents gathered Motzei Shabbos at the Kolel in Crown Heights for a fascinating presentation from Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin, Director of JEM, about the Rebbe’s childhood and youth.
Rabbi Shmotkin shared unknown anecdotes about the Rebbe and revealed exclusive information about some new documents published in the new book “Early Years.”
Some of the highlights from the presentation included details about the various Rabbonim the Rebbe got smicha from, a Litvishe Rov that was found out -after much tracking around the world- to be the Rebbe’s teacher for a year, new details about the Rebbe’s wedding, a newly found letter from the Frierdiker Rebbe in 5688, which, when examining closely is clearly written by the Rebbe – showing that the Rebbe was his secretary even prior to his wedding, and more fascinating details.
Click here for a replay of Thursday’s live teleconference with Rabbi Elkanah Shmotkin and Rabbi Shais Taub on the inside story behind the new book.
At the conclusion of the event, the book was sold at a special discounted price for Bochurim.
This event followed an inspiring Shabbos at the Ohel and Crown Heights which included speeches from Rabbi Sholom Moshe Paltiel, Shliach in Port Washington and Rabbi Note Shemtov, Shliach in Brooklyn, at the Ohel on Friday night, as well as Farbrengens with Rabbi Zalman Kaplan from Yeshivas Tzeirei Hashluchim Tzfas for Mesivta Bochurim and Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Feldman from Yeshivas Lubavitch Chulon for Zal Bochurim.
Shabbos Day bochurim at the Ohel joined Farbrengens with Rabbis Sholom Moshe Paltiel, Shlomo Chaim Feldman, and Chaim Stern.
In Crown Heights a Farbrengen was held with Rabbi Yosef Katzman.
These events were part of the Yud Shevat schedule for Bochurim arranged by the Vaad Talmidei Hatmimim Haolami.
