Simon Falic, CEO and owner of the chain of Duty-Free Americas Inc, participated in the inauguration of the new Chabad stand at the popular Shuk Machne Yehuda in Jerusalem.
The new stand is one of the many new endeavors being presented around the globe to commemorate the 25th yartzeit of the Rebbe on Gimmel Tammuz.
In its prime location, the stand will be a meeting point for ordinary Israelis as well as many tourists to connect with their Judaism by putting on Tefillin, hearing a quick Dvar Torah or asking the rabbi a question.
It is run by Rabbi Tzvi Ruderman and his wife Nechama, who moved on Shlichus to the Machne Yehuda – Davidka area 7 years ago. Once an authentic Israeli marketplace, Machne Yehuda has since become home to trendy restaurants and stores.
Rabbi Ruderman estimated that 100,000 people pass through the area each Friday alone. With the help of bochurim, Rabbi Ruderman happily engages with the passersby with a smile and a kind word.
The metal work over the stand was designed by the brothers Yossi and Mendy Lerer with funding generously donated by Falic in memory of his father Chaim Fima Falic, of blessed memory.
The invitation ceremony was entertained by chazan Dovid Caytak and Dovale Heller with activist Yaakov Halperin attending as a representative of Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion.
The Falic family does amazing philanthropic work!
