Diamond Mogul Morris Gad, CEO of Almod Diamonds, has agreed to assume chairmanship of the NCFJE Annual Awards Dinner.
The usually discreet philanthropist agreed to be honored because of his desire to help the organization he says “breaks itself to help others.”
Gad, who tends to shun publicity, spent many long and hard years, building his business into a successful retail franchise, a source at NCFJE said.
“Now that he finds himself at the top of his game, he has increasingly shown favor to Jewish charities in the US and Israel, many of them Chabad institutions.”
Gad’s long-running friendship with NCFJE Chairman Rabbi Shea Hecht has borne fruit for many Crown Heights households, as he sponsors groceries, poultry, clothing vouchers and other charitable aid to local low-income families.
“There’s no question that he has played an incredible role in our mossad and in many others,” Rabbi Hecht said of Gad, “He was blessed with a passion for helping others.”
In a statement to the November 22 dinner organizers, Gad likewise heaped praise upon NCFJE, Hecht and Chabad shluchim.
“Every day they prove that there is nothing they won’t do to lend a hand to a fellow Jew. They are the hardest working people in the field. It’s as simple as that,” he said.
