Rabbi Yitzi Lowenthal of Chabad of Denmark visited the two Israelis wounded in Wednesday’s shooting in a mall in Odense, about 160 km from Copenhagen.
Rabbi Lowenthal brought get well cards from the recently completed Camp Gan Israel children. The victims were very appreciative of the gesture, and put on Tefillin. They also asked to say the blessing Hagomel for the miracles they experienced.
Despite the gunman’s firing at least five shots, the two Israelis were wounded only in the leg and arm.
The victim who sustained gunshot wounds to his arm has already undergone one surgery, and will require surgery again. He related to Rabbi Lowenthal that during the shooting, he managed to throw a chair at the shooter, thereby confusing his aim.
The shooter has been apprehended by Danish police. Chabad house in Copenhagen and other local Jewish institutions are reviewing their security arrangements.
