Your help is needed to stop greedy car dealers and their allies from putting independent leasing companies/auto brokers out of business.
This would not only drive up vehicle prices for hardworking New Yorkers, but deny them the freedom to make a significant purchase in a manner that best meets their needs.
The dealers want to kill competition by cutting brokers out of the picture. And they’re spending millions of dollars in Albany to try to buy themselves a monopoly.
This unprecedented control, combined with the pandemic-induced vehicle shortage, has and will continue to put cars out of reach for individuals who are struggling to get back on their feet after an unprecedented and difficult few years.
Brokers are small business owners with diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds who are playing a key role in New York’s ongoing economic comeback. They provide a critical service to consumers who feel too intimidated, confused, or pressured by the traditional Dealership experience – due to time constraints, language barriers, disabilities, gender discrimination, religious observances, or other challenges.
Brokers offer individuals a reliable and convenient alternative way to purchase vehicles. Not everyone has the time, skills, or desire to haggle with a dealer to get a good price. Brokers help some of the state’s most vulnerable residents – non-English speakers, religious communities, and disabled individuals – to purchase affordable and high-quality vehicles conveniently and safely.
It is crucial that we protect the brokers so they can continue to provide this valuable service, assuring all New Yorkers can get a quality vehicle at a reasonable price.
Click here and click on the “Sign Now” button, you will be directed to a prepared message that will reach your assemblyman and state senator TODAY, and tell them to vote “no” on assembly bill A.3499 and senate bill S.7553 in order to protect the brokers and the vulnerable New Yorkers they serve!
the car brokers are not able to match the prices of the dealerships and that is tough
An element if the legislation is that brokers would need to disclose their fees. I’ve always wondered what brokers made as I never saw them listed in the contract.
Right, as I’m sure you’re fully aware of how much your insurance agent marks up your policy. They disclose that to you, right?
Also, at the dealership, they disclose how much their cost is to you and that’s part of the contract, right?!
Oh, wait.
And even if the brokers do make money off of your lease, so what? They’re providing a valuable service, they save you calling multiple deals asking about different models/trims/colors etc, deliver the car to your door (or you pick it up locally in CH/BK), they are helpful and do genuinely try to get the best price. Can’t put a price on service and convenience.
That’s fine if they make money for convenience, etc. But fees should be disclosed since most people using a broker would not also compare at dealers.
If you ever tried to get a quote from a dealership on a lease, you would know that their prices were insanely high compared to what the frum brokers were able to get us. Highly advised for us all to sign and fight this.
no brokerage fees on tesla and its cheaper then conventional cars…
Go ahead and try to get a quote from a dealership on a lease, and then once you get the quote try to actually sign and see what happens. The gimmicks, tricks and lies are literally terrible. Tried it more than once and wasted a few days and many hours, and this was by more than one dealer. Our Frum brokers kept to their word and even delivered the vehicle making the entire transaction seamless and pleasant as well as at a great savings. Highly advise for us all to sign and fight this.
