A head above the rest…
The 6-foot-5-inches tall Bill de Blasio is the leading candidate to be the Democratic nominee for Mayor of New York City, based on a new poll by Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
He commands a 43 percent lead in the party’s primary on September 10, ahead of former NYC Comptroller Bill Thompson (20%) and NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn (18%).
Such an outcome will avoid a runoff, news wires are saying.
What is interesting about the results is that de Blasio outpolled Thompson, the only African-American candidate, 47 percent to 25 percent among black people and leads Quinn, the only woman in the race, 44 percent to 18 percent, Bloomberg News noted.
As opposed to other candidates, de Blasio hasn’t gone out of his way to court the frum Jewish vote. The last time he was publicly seen in Crown Heights was almost a year ago when Ehud Halevy was beaten by 2 police officers.
He was however interviewed on the Zev Brenner radio program, mentioning his outreach to the Jewish community, support for Israel and his favorite Jewish dish – Kugel:
his liberal programs will benefit our community as well – the non gainfully employed part in particular. Me. looking forward to the tax hike…
If he cant find any time to visit crown heights maybe he doesnt deserve our votes.
So sad the local bigwigs weren’t able to schedule a honey cake eating session with him…
