As in the past 34 years, Chevra Simchas Shabbos V’Yom Tov (CSSY) will once again be distributing Pesach needs to the Crown Heights community.
Each year, the community charity organization distributes over $140,000 in cash grants to needy families in Crown Heights during the month before the Pesach holiday.
The organization, founded by R’ Shimshon Stock OBM and run by his son Benji, distributes the cash to families who otherwise will not be able to afford the expenses associated with the holiday.
“We pay grocery, meat and fruit store bills,” Stock said. “People go to their local store and shop, and they put it on our account. This way they can shop with dignity.”
Truckloads of donated food staples are also given out free by CSSY and the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council.
Due to the current economic downturn, the number of families requiring assistance is higher than ever before, he says.
“If you or someone you know is in need of Matzah or financial help for Pesach, please call: 718-774-5270 or email: [email protected],” says Stock. “Please let us know as soon as possible so we may assist them.”
To donate please visit their website at: www.CSSY.org.
You can mail or drop your donation at: “CSSY”, 593 Motgomery St., Brooklyn, NY 11225.
After reading the other day about the $150,000 that Mrs. Scheiner gives out for Pesach and now about the $140,000 that Benji Stock gives out I am very stunned. Is it really possible that there is such huge need?
May Hashem bless his children Israel with health, great wealth, and nachas. It’s very expensive to be Jew.
