Chevra Simcha Shabbos V’Yom Tov, the organization founded by Shimshon and Martha Stock obm, who with great devotion opened their home to the needy and brought joy and assistance to hundreds of families in Crown Heights, needs help.
As a fresh New Year approaches, each of us feels an increased yearning for the blessings of good health, ample livelihood, and contentment.
The New Year celebrations brings with it great joy, but at the same time, tremendous expenses for holiday food, clothing, shoes and school supplies for hundreds of families and their children.
And this year, due to the recession, our budgetary needs have increased over 40% since January. We are facing new kinds of problems. Many families who for years had steady incomes have lost their jobs. Their needs go beyond food vouchers and help with paying electric bills. Some of these people have become depressed and require costly professional therapy. The calls for help that we receive are truly heartbreaking.
That’s why we need your help today, and we need it desperately.
Imagine how your gift today will buy a pretty new Yom Tov dress to delight an eight-year old girl. Imagine the smile of a six-year old boy as he boards the school bus in his sturdy new shoes, his briefcase packed with all the right supplies. Imagine helping lift the despondency of their jobless parents.
