Truth is

When I lived in CH in the early 80s, paraders had access to all of Kingston and walked into grocery stores wearing little more than body paint, feathers and carrying an attitude of what-r-gonna-do-about-it? I was standing at a register as the owner pushed regular customers aside to get the paraders out as quickly as possible. Wnadering paraders going into Jewish shops was only to intimidate the shop keepers because the parade, at least back then supplied its own free flow of liquor and other refreshments. The reason why Empire is not crazy like it used to be, and its quiet is because the floats do not pass here anymore. so the people dont walk down here as much.!

Going Downhill
September 7, 2009 7:48 pm

This parade has been going downhill over the past decade. Outside of the immediate parade zone many streets were open and traffic flowing near normal. Empire Blvd was as clear as it could be with the kakamamie one-lane traffic and bicycle lanes, which are a real trouble in CH, and more trouble to come if JG keeps running things and not needing to answer to anyone. They parade only one day a year. And at 6PM it is all over.
Relax and enjoy.

Thank you
