Going Downhill

This parade has been going downhill over the past decade. Outside of the immediate parade zone many streets were open and traffic flowing near normal. Empire Blvd was as clear as it could be with the kakamamie one-lane traffic and bicycle lanes, which are a real trouble in CH, and more trouble to come if JG keeps running things and not needing to answer to anyone. They parade only one day a year. And at 6PM it is all over.

I was standing at a register as the owner pushed regular customers aside to get the paraders out as quickly as possible. Wnadering paraders going into Jewish shops was only to intimidate the shop keepers because the parade, at least back then supplied its own free flow of liquor and other refreshments. Chabad continues to be a ‘guest’ in its own community, the same as Israel… Read more »
