The NYPD 71st Precinct in Crown Heights held its annual Night Out Against Crime, one of over 70 events citywide to promote positive community relations, on Tuesday.
The National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships to help make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. It seeks to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement, fostering a true sense of community.
The 71st Precinct’s event took place at Jackie Robinson Playground on Montgomery Street near Franklin Avenue.
Community leaders, elected officials, and members of the NYPD joined local residents to enjoy a barbeque, rock climbing, bounce houses, face painting, and more fun.
In attendance were Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, NYPD commissioner Keechant Sewell, Ingrid Lewis-Martin – Chief Advisor to Mayor Eric Adams, 71st Precinct Commanding Officer Inspector Joseph Hayward, activist and Honorary NYPD Commissioner Devorah Halberstam, NYPD Inspector Richie Taylor, Eli Cohen – Executive Director, Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, Eli Slavin – liaison for Congresswoman Clarke and Anita Taylor – District Director for Congresswoman Clarke.
Congresswoman Clarke and Ingrid Lewis-Martin on behalf of the Mayor each presented a proclamation to the 71st Precinct for their dedicated work for the safety of the community.

Look at the smiling photos. They included the Jewish Community Leaders and Community Activists.
All that was missing was Kosher food, but if there were cans of soda or bottles of water then they were yotzeh.
