Chabad of Coral Springs, under the leadership of Rabbi and Rebbetzin Yossie Denburg and Rabbi and Rebbetzin Avraham Friedman, held its annual Lag B’Omer event on Wednesday evening, May 25.
Over 125 Jewish men, women and children of all ages and backgrounds attended the upbeat, informal family picnic from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
A group of six 7th and 8th grader boys from Hebrew Academy Community School did a wonderful job setting up the tables and chairs, manning the food concession stand, handling a long line of participants waiting patiently for hot dogs, French fries and other fresh goodies. The kitchen was expertly handled by community members Fran Green and Mrs. Sheinberger and crew.
The music was provided by community member Mr. Evans with amazing speakers.
Children were busy enjoying a burlap sack racing, relay races, tee-ball, cupcake decorating, Frisbee arts and crafts, real archery, children’s rally, drumming, and, of course, the Chabad center’s spacious courtyard.
Rabbi Denburg explained the significance of the day and was pleased with the tremendous turnout.
The highlight was the Lag B’Omer childrens rally, at which Rabbi Engel said a wonderful story and led the children in the Twelve Pesukim and Rebbe’s Kapitel Tehillim. The fire was then kindled by Rabbi Granat, and marshmallows and s’mores were soon being roasted while music kept the crowd in high spirits.
Special thanks go to Pesach Klein whose invaluable involvement ensured that all event logistics were proficiently covered.
