The aftermath of the bloody terror attack in central London, which claimed the lives of 7 people and injured 48 others, has sent shockwaves throughout the city, country and the world.
London’s police chief Cressida Dick said police patrols will be increased following the attack in which a van drove into people on London Bridge and others were stabbed in the nearby Borough Market.
“Shabbos ended at 10:25 PM and we got a few updates,” said Reuven Garbarchik, a member of the Chabad community in London.
“It took a few hours until we got the full picture of what happened. It is a tourist destination that is a 20-minute drive from the frum neighborhood.”
Twelve people have since been arrested in Barking, east London, followed a raid at a flat belonging to one of the 3 attackers, BBC reported.
Garbarchik said the increased security was visible near his home in Stamford Hill. “This morning I saw, for the first time, officers walking around the Jewish stores holding drawn weapons.”
It is the third terror attack in the UK in 3 months, following the car and knife attack in Westminster in March, in which 5 people were killed, and the Manchester bombing less than 2 weeks ago, in which 22 people were killed, BBC reports.
Garbarchik said that “there has been increased security on Jewish and Chabad institutions for two or three years now, including on Shabbos. The situation in London is now relatively tense, but despite everything, the residents are quickly returning to normal.”
Rabbi Herschel Gluck, a Chabad activist promoting Jewish-Muslim relations, said he has “been very involved in trying to help deal with the situation and to do everything possible to ensure the protection of the community.”
“The ongoing events here in London touches me very close to the bone,” Gluck noted on Facebook. “London Bridge and Borough Market are a relatively short distance from my home down the A10- a straight Roman road- and I am often there. My prayers and best wishes for everyone.”
Prime Minister Theresa May has said it is time to say “enough is enough” when it comes to tackling terrorism. “We cannot and must not pretend that things can continue as they are,” she said.
She said the general election will go ahead as planned on Thursday.

So much for all the claims that society is supposedly so much safer when there are fewer guns in the hands of the police
(and if the citizens had them, some of these victims might still be alive today).
The police are starting to catch on, and perhaps eventually the law abiding citizens will, too.
theresa may is a coward
she doesnt want to offend the good muslims what a coward she is.
Wow! Kol Hakavod, Theresa May!!!
