The Crown Heights Jewish Community Coalition, a political action committee in Brooklyn, has announced its endorsement for the New York State primaries election on Thursday, Sept 13.
They called on local residents to vote for the incumbent, State Senator Jesse Hamilton. His district includes the neighborhoods of Brownsville, Crown Heights, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
The PAC cited Hamilton’s support for tax credit for Yeshiva tuition, his opposition to the Iran Nuclear Deal, and his longtime friendship with the Chabad-Lubavitch community in Crown Heights.
Members of the PAC are Zaki Tamir, Chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council; Rabbi Shea Hecht, chairman of the NCFJE organization; Devorah Halberstam, Director of External Affairs of the Jewish Children’s Museum in Crown Heights; Mica Soffer, Publisher of COLlive Media Group Inc; and Yaacov Behrman, founder of JFA and director of Operation Survival.
The eyes of all of our elected officials will be focused on this election to see if our community votes or stays home. It is therefore vital that everyone votes in this important election.
The PAC is also asking residents to vote for Andrew Cuomo for Governor, Letitia James for Attorney General, and for Loren Baily for Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice.
These endorsements are based on the elected officials or those running for office based on their activities and interactions with the Jewish community in Crown Heights. Members of the PAC made the endorsements on a personal account and not in an official capacity of their jobs.

saying to vote at Public School next to Bais Rivka – 330 Crown
But where you vote depends on your address
It is a mystery to me why the new correct voter stations have not been publicized !
It’s not too late – can COL please post ASAP so those who want to vote can still go ??
WHERE CAN WE VOTE. I used to vote at the school at president and brooklyn. I went this morning and it was closed.
If people aren’t registered to vote !! Crown Heights needs an organized aggressive Voter Registration Drive . There are literally HUNDREDS of local girls & bochorim of voting age who must be registered. For those that learn out of town they can vote with absentee ballots for big elections. There should be tables set up on Kingston to register voters – many students have left already so grab them when they are next home ( Pesach time ?) But the students that are learning here, as well as local citizens, should be registered before this November. Since we have seen… Read more »

1) Why not hold public meetings for the Jewish community quarterly, throughout the year at various shuls to address issues effecting Jewish residents. 2) Should the CHPAC be elected by the Jewish community’s residents since the CHJCC may be prohibited from making political endorsements 3) Would it be better for the CHPAC to have a “Jewish Senate” for political purposes, whereby every Rabbi from every shul in CH has a vote, five representatives from Hatzolah, five representatives from Shomrim ? 4) Over $115 million dollars of NYS Public funds went to affordable housing for supportive housing for homeless, drug addicts… Read more »
I wish you would post the list earlier, and that PAC should be sending leaflets to the homes that everyone should see it
For anyone who thinks, oh I will stay home my vote doesnt count, this is the farthest thing from the truth. Elections have been won by a mere 10 votes. Bottom line Jesse has been there from day one. His opponent is a puppet and does not care about our community.
On another note, it is VERY important to Vote for Kathy Hochul for Lieutenent Governor, her opponent is radical and will change things in our State drastically.
Please go out and VOTE
I would vote for him, but can’t in the primary.
If you are a registered Democrat please go vote for him. He’s actually done a good job and deserves your vote.
I am not as well schooled as the PAC, and I don’t really go for this kissing up, HOWEVER, in this particular case, we have an opportunity to vote as a bloc, and show the politicians that our vote CAN count
What about his most recent 911 bill am I supposed to support??
For those who don’t know whatThe bill is just Google it.
Jesse is a great guy and actually gets things done even if that doesn’t please the progressive mafia. #VoteJesse.
