COLlive asked our contributing photographers to select a memorable 5769 photo. Here is what Meir Dahan, Y. Belinko, Mendy Lewis, Shmuel Ben-Zvi, Yossi Percia and Menachem Kozlovsky chose. Photos
Meir Dahan: It was the month of Cheshvan, and Crown Heights was already covered in snow. I walked on the streets and I saw what looked like a painting"
Mendy Lewis: "I saw Rabbi Shimon Lazaroff, Shliach from Texas, who is always smiling, leaning on a pole and crying bitterly. It was during the funeral of his mother, Rebbetzin Menucha Lazaroff OBM."
Shmuel Ben-Tzvi: "Rabbi Shimon Rosenberg lighting the menorah in front of the Taj Mahal Hotel. It's hard to describe the scene of a Rabbi with a torch, standing on a crane, in front of what was, at the time, the most infamous hotel in the world."
Y. Belinko: "It was a moment I will never ever forget. The bodies of the Mumbai Shluchim at the entrance to 770 of Kfar Chabad"
Meir Dahan: ""It was Yud Shvat, and Kfar Chabad Chief Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Ashkenazi visited Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, who greeted him with a warm "slap" on the cheek. It was quite extraordinary."
Yossi Percia: "The Wolowiks of the Five Towns holding together their family and their community as they cope with the loss of a 9 year old son."
Menachem Kozlovsky: "Yud Shevat in 770. A seemingly endless row of memorial candles lit by the entire family of Chassidim."
beautiful, but you wrote ashirus with a alef. not that it shouldnt be!
and collive, maybe add that the rabbi lighting the menora in front of the taj hotel in mumbai, is the father of rebbetzin rivki holtzberg, a shlucha in mumbai, who was murdered there in nariman house not a month before.
ה’תש”ע תהי שנת אשירות

This is the year, people!
Be happy, it’s final 5770…!
why such sad pictures
they are decent at the most. These photographers might want to enroll in a photo journalism course.
As someone who lost a child and had to witness my own children crying at their sibling’s funeral, I must say that there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing sad kids, because of the death of their sibling.
We should only know Simchos! Kesiva u’Chasima to Klal Yisroel.
Gershon Wachtel, Toronto
lets just hope this year is the exact opposite of last year every body should have a Gut Yuar
These pictures give us a proper perspective to approach Rosh Hashonoh in addition to how we prepare as Chassidim.
It was a year of tragedy. Enough already! May Hashem wipe tragedy from the face of the earth, and may this year bring us only smiles and the ultimate joy of Moshiach!
