As part of the ongoing New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) project to rehabilitate the Brooklyn Bridge, there will be a closure of the bridge.
Manhattan-bound lanes will be closed from 12:01 AM Sunday, 8/4 until 5:00 AM Monday, 8/5, and next weekend, from 12:01 AM Sunday, 8/11 until 5:00 AM Monday, 8/12.
During each 29-hour closure, all Manhattan-bound traffic will be redirected to alternate crossings, including the Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge and the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel, an MTA-tolled facility.
In related news, officials at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey were hoping for the best Friday as they announced plans to close three of four lanes on the heavily traveled upper deck of the George Washington Bridge.
The work to replace sections of the steel beams that support the roadway is expected to last through the end of the year and will be performed during overnight hours.
