Even ground beef from L’chaim costs $20/lb

Way out of the price range of most people in CH

Basically none of the companies on the list are available for retail where customers can shop at their local kosher grocery store and get chk meat

I’m not sure what you mean? Several of these brands are available in supermarkets all over. I happen to have seen David Elliot chicken while traveling in several supermarkets outside of Crown Heights.

Most of these options are only available in stores in crown heights

Great point

As a Shliach in living in a college town with no kosher meat in the local markets (closest market that carries is a 4 hour drive) I find that Mykoshemeat.com super helpful. It’s a website that ships overnight kosher meat pretty much anywhere in the country. Hatzlacha.

Better prices

Western Kosher in Los Angeles has cheaper prices for Chicken & Beef! and they have very competitive Fedex priority overnight prices!

Chk should try to certify all the big companies like ables and haymen, meal mart, empire, Solomon’s etc. that way lubavitchers outside of crown heights can buy chk meat other than David Elliot chicken places like Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Alabama, Miami ,etc

Great point

Kinda the point?

The new lubavitch hechser will be widely available.

CHK while it is a fabulous hechser is a local limited hechser, limited to crown heights and the crown heights rabbonim.

The new hechser is a broader chabad hechser and will be for all lubavitch communities

It would be nice if Agri would have both CHK and new lubavitch hechser.

This way it helps the local crown heights crowd as well as the greater lubavitch community (many of whom not necessarily rely on chk and only buy Montreal etc .)

Just not the same standards

The point is that chk is better kasherus standards

Please elaborate

WHat do you base that premise on?

Meal Mart

Chabad or “Lubavitch” rabbonim will never certify meal mart satmer hechsher who like weismandel have one level of better kashrus standards for themselves and lower they sell for everyone else.(like what happend at Agri)

Most of these companies are tiny little companies that most people have never heard of and are not widely available

What?!

Your saying stone hill is a tiny company? They produce most imported beef that you find here in the states

I have a genius idea
How about don’t just eat only the chk certification. The new certification is great!!!

Rabbi Segal been the one certifying agri for years (until the sholom) so happy he’s back! Especially with such chashuve rabonim! (One who has a history with hechsahrim and one a big posek)

Can the chk please post a list of every food product that has their certification that is widely available in kosher stores across the country?

List of restaurants please
March 9, 2024 11:52 pm

This would be very helpful to know which restaurants carry chk meat or Lubavitch shechita

I'm confused..
March 10, 2024 4:27 am

What is this kashrus controversy about, why did this suddenly pop up now, and how does it impact the Lubavitcher shopper in and out of Crown Heights?

CHK meat from Uruguay?
March 10, 2024 9:53 am

Can we get the grocery stores certified?
March 10, 2024 11:26 am

When can we get the grocery stores under CHK hashgacha? Too often I have seen them selling non pas Yisroel items that people have no idea about and wouldn’t buy if they would know!!

The grocery stores also sell tuna fish which is not bishul yisroel. I heard so many times I bought it at the local grocery store it must be bishul yisroel.
The liquor stores sell liquor that has yayin nesech. This should be stopped also. It is just as important as a hechsher on a store.

Nothing changed
March 10, 2024 1:56 pm

For those who trusted Agri meat / chicken until now, absolutely nothing at all changed and you can continue to eat it. For those of us who did not, no CHK list will help you…

Rabbi segal is the new hechsher
March 10, 2024 3:47 pm

Rabbi segal was the rov that was responsible for the chk kashrus for 20 years (specially on shchita) he was the only rov that traveled on behalf of chk to the agri facility in postvil.
For some political and money reasons, the 2 rabonim decided to move him and and they took everything from him. In response rabbi segal opened a new hechsher and moved out the old hechsher. That is the Entire story. This is the same level of hechsher that was there till now, Simply because it is the same rabbi who is giving the hechsher.

To all.

Before saying anything about other hechsarim (kosher signs) You need to understand the Difference between them and CHK Only If you learn the halachos of schitah will you understand why a hechser from CHK is removed. There’s different standards that CHK keeps that other kosher signs don’t keep. And might not even know about. (These standards) like some of them is from the צמח צדק etc. CHK keeps all. True Not everyone has the opportunity, of getting there meet from CHK. But if you look for it you will find a way of getting it. I know people that don’t… Read more »
