Your question addresses a broader issue: How do you monitor the jokes to make sure they are appropriate and not insensitive?
One possible solution is that students can submit their joke in advance to the “Joke Editor” for approval. If a joke is deemed inappropriate for whatever reason, help the student understand why and ask him or her to revise or choose something else. Regarding slapstick specifically… I believe that whatever evokes a healthy laugh is great!

And, as you point out, prominently mentioned in our holy books long before modern science came to “discover” this, Just out of curiosity, Dina: Would you allow a comical, slapstick presentation if that’s what a particular student wanted to present as his/her “joke”? (I’m serious – pun intended,)

Knock knock jokes, riddles and best of all clever puns can add so much to the feeling in the classroom & it doesn’t necessarily have to tie in to what the students are learning.

I work in preschool and while I’m teaching my students how to read which is a basic skill for life, And hard for some. I make an effort to bring in a joke to leave the girls with a warm feeling. Thank you Mrs. Gorkin, these are such beautiful clips and so affirming for someone in the chinuch community!!
