Are you looking for a Chazzan for the High Holidays? Are you a Chazzan looking to Daven somewhere?
For the 4th year, the Shluchim Office in New York is operating its “Chazzan Placement,” matching cantors and Baalei Tefilla with Shuls and communities.
“This year we have opened early to give you plenty of time to find the right match before Yom Tov,” they said.
Accessible at www.chazzanplacement.com, Chazzanim and Chabad Houses looking for them can register online.
Following that step, the Shluchim Office system sends an email with the matches that suit your needs – experience, price range, location, etc.
And the rest is up to you: Call a reference in the list and makE the match.
i dont know which yeshivos you were in, but every yeshiva that i was in the bachurim that wanted to make money, made money. secondly, unfortunately there are not that many bachurim that know nusach let alone have a good voice therefore shluchim are handcuffed to take these bachurim, and the way you are speaking “if you want someone who will do you a favor etc.” i guess you are right if you were not a chassid and your going for money not for shlichus! the problem is these same bachurim pride themselves saying: “i was on shlichus this tishrei… Read more »
Is $12,000 for one night, for the week or for the month?
“there are plenty of oppurtunities throughout the years of yeshiva to make money tutoring etc” You are just plain wrong there is not plenty of opportunity…most Yeshvas don’t allow you or don’t make it possible to make money..
“the amount of money that bachurim demand is disgusting” Nobody’s demanding anything…they’re saying that they will commit to go to you for this price…want it take it don’t want it apparently this guy will be wanted somewhere else..If you want someone who will do you a favor go find them…
i am still a bachur not a shliach, nor is my father a shliach, there are plenty of oppurtunities throughout the years of yeshiva to make money tutoring etc. the amount of money that bachurim demand is disgusting the way you are speaking is definitely not the way we were educated as lubavitcher chassidim
To # 27 & # 28 Rabbi Posner ( an emesa chosid) encouraged R’ Chiam Balsam (a talmum chochom and erlecha yid) to davven for Amud All around the year. Clean shaven
If a guy has a nice voice, why shouldn’t he charge for it?
If its a small chabad house, they probably don’t need an amazing Chazzan anyway.
Most Bochurim don’t get too many chances to make any $ throughout the year.
This is one time a year when some have an opportunity to make some money, but no G-D forbid!
If the Shliach can afford it good, if not don’t complain!
R’Sholom Posner would be extremely upset to see our own bochurim with “touched” beards. I highly doubt that if he were around today, he would hire a Lubavitcher bocher with a trimmed beard to daven by the omud on yomim noraim.
By the way, I believe there is a marked difference between someone who never grew a beard and someone who had one and removed it.
Reb Chaim Balsam never considered himself a Lubavitcher Chossid.
a known chazan baal tefilah in 770 for many years, was in yechidus by the Frierdiker Rebbe, and asked if he can be the baal tefilah in 770, the FR answered better go somewhere where they pay, he insisted again to Daven in 770, the FR looked at him and said “bai unz farbt men nit di bord” (he was dyeing his beard at the time)…
al achas kamoh vichamoh trimming etc.
It looks like you have your values messed up…
Having a Beard ain’t no “narishkeit”. It is the obligation of anyone that considers themself a chossid, be it full fledged or even Chabad ‘lite”, to know what the Tzemach Tzedek (third chabad Rebbe) said, that it is assur to shave your beard.
And if YOU don’t care, know than, that the people in the shul you’ll be davening look up to you as a chabadnik, as the highest standards (to them) in Yiddishkeit…
Don’t let them down.
shouldnt u be able to upload demo onto that website?
This is the time of year, chazanim earn a living. If you don’t like it, do it yourself. Buy what you can afford, don’t blame the storekeeper.
Where was that pic taken??? I see some nice voices there (dovi, shmully, raskin..)….I wanna be there next time this happens??
ct
Zalman u look great
ur bro
could i be chazzan if i dont wear a yarmulka
I am very inspired by your heartfelt words. Living far away in a small and isolated community we have had the opportunity over our 15 years on Shlichus to have various Bochurim come to Daven for the Yomim Noraim (and other Yomim Tovim). In rare cases they have asked for a substantial sum of payment and more often they have not (and we gave them a small token of our appreciation). I find that the latter have always been Chassidishe bochurim who have this Shlichus as their best interest at heart. I understand a very small percentage of Bochurim spend… Read more »
this is about a remembering of standards chabad is different that we must go mechayil el chayil and expect more then just being happy being in a commuity stagnating
and if u dont want to pay go get someone who doesnt pay like your 14 yr old son who will make it sound like a weekday maariv
in the words of a chabad speaker if you pay the hall u pay the music and they dont care about what organization u have to pay the expense
u should pay the expense
What happened to mivtzoim? shlichus? I have been a chazzan for 25 years and never earned a dime. Tipshus?maybe. But I am amazed that shluchim are handcuffed to pay even for mediocre baalei tefillah. Let’s not get carried away with the Chazzan title. Most shluchim need a pleasant voice who will knock off the davening. Paying $$$’000 is outrageous. Now bochurim only help out for any mivztoim based on the renumeration. No wonder Shluchim of today are running businesses. They are taught this very quickly as a bochur. No ticky no washy. You can’t pay, no camp, no school, no… Read more »
i was personally a chazzan for a few shluchim since i was sixteen years old and i was offered great sums of money i am proud to say that i never took a penny from shluchim after the first year i realized how disgusting it is that bochurim take money from shluchim who dont have money to put bread on their table, and it became normal to the extent that the shluchim office posts “prices” i hope that more bochurim see the light and stop stealing from “momoin hekdesh”.
If you read between the lines of some of these comments you’ll notice they are people with issues themselves.
How sad that a simple advert about matching chazanim is put up and WITHIN MINUTES, the whole world is “koching” about something which has nothing to do with the announcement!!!! Why, oh why, are we so so so quick to ALWAYS tear each other apart at the drop of a hat. . WHY, cant we just leave each other alone. . and stop CONSTANTLY looking for what to critiicize and condemn. . ITS ENOUGH ALREADY . . . we’re almost ‘Motzei Tisha Bav. . maybe now is a good time to start. . . .
LIVE AND LET LIVE!!!!!!!
who cares. that site was made to make money, nothing to do with lubavtich beard no beard.
Can anyone afford me at $12,000?
The Ball Tefilah of many decades and President and Alumnus of this world renowned Chbad community shaves. Reb. Chiam may you continue to be Shliach Tzibur as appointed by R’ Shlom Posner OBM
2 wrongs dont make a right. touching your beard is a deep offense to Chabad Chassidim. It shows unconsciously that you are embarrassed of being a Lubavitcher and youwould rather people think you are a misnaged. A long beard is a sign of a CHOSID.
most of the frum work have chazzonim without beards there is no problem halacha with a chazzan who touches his beard!!!
are you saying anyone without a beard cant be a mashgiach? or a baal koreh? or maybe be part of a minyan?? go back to satmar
I agree with 1,
Maybe then are you saying we should also allow the ones who are mechalel shabbos to sing because if they know aleph at least they should teach the aleph!!!!
Chabad has standards and people look up to them for those standards as an example of the highest levels of Jewish practice.
lets make sure we dont let those people down
can we do these interviews for candidates looking for shidduchim…dont you wish……..
A Shull Crown Heights who won’t allow a member of theirs to be a Baal Tefila because of his shortened beard , he understands it ,and continues to join our Minyan.
So if he understands what’s right ,why then find all kinds of excuses to minimize the importance of the beard.
If you know alef and dont keep alef then no , dont teach alef
rambam rights ( if you learn one perk a day . a few days ago )
you have to have a beard
What about guys who sell kidneys? Do you really think it’s safe to start judging ppl like that?
Maybe they should’t Daven in 770 but the Rebbes view has always been “if you know Aleph teach Aleph” which means you don’t have to be perfect to be able to help someone…
There are many communities around the world that would benefit from one of these Chazzanim who are good frum Jews who have a lot to offer albeit not perfect people…
looking at the picture a thought comes to mind.
Only those bochurim or yugerlite who do NOT touch their beards should be recommended.
Anyone who “shortens” their beards which is against Chabad principles should not be promoted and validated by being on that list as an appropriate Chazan of Chabad.
Besides al pi shulchan Oruch especially for the High Holidays there are issues with such chazzonim.
