With the combined efforts of concerned residents and the NYPD, a kitten was saved on Sunday morning in Crown Heights.
While walking on Kingston Avenue near Montgomery Street, a Chassidic Rabbi noticed a resident standing near a parked car, who alerted him to the sound of the cries of a kitten coming from inside the car.
Realizing the kitten was trapped somewhere in the car, the man called the police for help.
A little while later, officers Caputo and Cecja arrived, and after they were unable to extract the kitten, which was trapped in the car’s engine, they contacted the owner of the car using the license plate information.
The car’s owner rushed over to help, and unlocked the car allowing the kitten to be safely removed.
“We are so grateful to the members of the NYPD who are always looking out for us, including the smallest creatures,” the Rabbi said.
“It was so beautiful to see the combined effort of so many to do a good deed,” he continued. “The Mitzvah of saving an animal from Tzar Baalei Chaim is so important, and we had the zchus to do that today,” he said.
