Chassan Academy Prepares Bachurim for the Next Stage in Life

In the period before the wedding, chassanim prepare for one of the most important moments in their lives, as well as for the next stage in life, establishing a Jewish home. This preparation entails a large array of limud, first and foremost is learning the dinim of Taharas Hamishpacha in a way of Halacha L’maase, but it doesn’t end there. Lots of new aspects of life need to be learnt such as how to ask a shalah, the halachos of chuppah v’kidushin, the importance of building a relationship with your Rov.

Machon Lemaan Yilmedu, in collaboration with Machon Taharas HaBayis, recently opened an “academy” for chassanim that is designed to provide a thorough preparation for the wedding and beyond.

Last week, the second cycle concluded. It took place in Lemaan Yilmedu’s learning center in Crown Heights and was spread out over four packed days in the course of which the chassanim learned the halachos of Taharas Hamishpacha from Rabbi Avrohom Hirsh Levin. They attended lectures on a variety of subjects including a lecture given by Rabbi Sholom Ber Chaiken on Hilchos Nidda, How to ask a Shalah given by Rabbi Tuvia Kasimov, the halachos of chuppah v’kidushin by Rabbi Mordchai Farkash and lectures from professionals in their fields on medical matters, emotional health and the proper way to run one’s home finances.

At Machon Lemaan Yilmedu, they are pleased with the first two cycles and say that feedback from the chassanim who participated underscores the need for this unique program. Registration has opened for the third cycle which will take place, G-d willing, during Kislev.
