District Attorney of Kings County in New York Charles Hynes has notified that all charges against Ehud Halevi by the police officers who beat him will be dropped.
Hynes notified of the decision in a meeting Monday afternoon with civil rights attorney Norman Siegel who is representing Halevi.
“We are pleased with the District Attorney’s decision. There was no legal basis for any of the charges,” Siegel told COLlive.com in a first reaction.
“We commend the Brooklyn District Attorney for doing the right thing. Justice was done,” he added.
After taking a beating on the holiday of Shmini Atzeres on October 8, Halevi was jailed and charged with assaulting an officer – a fact security footage disputed.
“After review of all available evidence I have decided to dismiss the charges against Ehud Halevy,” District Attorney Charles Hynes said in a brief statement.
Asked by COLlive if he thought the rally on Friday in front of the 71st Precinct contributed to the decision, Seigel said “it helped very much – the rally, and petition and your reporting.”
“I commend Rabbi Moshe Feiglin of Aliya, Assemblyman Dov Hikind, State Senator Eric Adams and members of the Crown Heights community because their support was important in reaching this just resolution.”
But the legal battle is not over.
Halevi asked for criminal charges to be pressed against the two officers Luis Vega and Yelena Bruzzese for brutally beating him at the Aliya Institute in Crown Heights.
Siegel said that he and his client will be discussing “what other legal steps we can take to vindicate his rights.”
“(Halevi) is extremely pleased, but we still have to get accountability for what those officers did to him,” Siegel said.

Many thanks to writer & attorney Eli Federman for asking his good friend Attorney Norman Sigal to take the case and to rep. Halevi. Charges have filed against the officers!
We need to say tehilim & march!!!!
Baruch Hashem.
Now we need to get Shalom Mordechai halevy ben Rivka Rubashkin and Yonatan ben Malka Pollard released too. ASAP.

United as one!
Awesome.
Now pollard and rubashkin
FIRED and IMPRISONED. The city should be sued. #18 “The Officers acted worse than animals” … and the govt. acts worse than the criminals. Why? They are supposed to be our leaders, and did they wish to almost eliminate crime by getting VERY tough…they would, and should. They’re supposed to protect us…but they can’t, or won’t. Harsh laws protect the victim from the criminal and the criminal from him/herself…they’d be afraid to commit the crime. Would you stick your hand in a fire? There’s too much profit in crime, now, to reduce it. Heard what happened to Rabbi Hahn on… Read more »
If the cops know that (there’s an eye that ses) their actions are recorded they will be much more careful in the way they act. Keep your cameras working…..
IF WE COULD GET A SIZEABLE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE TO DEMONSTRATE IN WASHINGTON FOR A FEW CONSECUTIVE SUNDAYS IN A ROW WE COULD POSSIBLY SEE SOME SIMILAR POSITIVE RESULTS. WHEN THE HIGHER UPS SEE THAT WE ARE PERSISTENT AND W O R K TOGETHER IT HAS AN AFFECT!
lets not rest until these thuggish cops are appropriately removed from harming the public in the future! surely this will send a strong signal to other “bad apples” who may think they can get away with it
It’s time to put them where they belong, we need to come down “HARD” once and for all. LOW LIFES
Let’s see now who will be the last one standing in the “RING”
Put that thug cop in the ring with salita
TO #6!!!!!!!!!!!!
Said Norman, not “indicate”‘ however whatever the
language, it is code words for lawsuit!
Cops Do not just need to be fired, they /NYPD need to be sued to the umpteenth degree, enough that will make them and all their presiding bodies do a thorough cleaning (out) of their inner force problems before sending them out to deal with inner city problems! The officers should be fired without compensation and lose ALL benefits. This is a victory, thanks to Siegal, but a small step in a treacherous mountain of changes yet needed!
NOW
Let’s do the math it took almost 100k signatures to get this case to a happy ending. For Rubashkin which is a federal issue we need at least 500K I would be happy to help promote something.
bh! so now we gotta all protest for sholom mordechai haleivi ben rivah to also have all charges dropped and be a free man and return home to his family. Amen!
How about pressing charges against the cops for false charges against Halevy. There needs to be major consequences for such awful behavior.
Boruch Hashem
Next: Sholom Mordechai….
