Chana Zirkind, a young woman from Israel, passed away at the age of 24 after a long battle with a terrible illness.
Chana was the daughter of Rabbi Yehoshua Shlomo Zirkind OBM and his wife Sara, who were sent by the Rebbe in 5738 in one of the groups of Shluchim to Israel.
They lived in Tzfas for many years and later moved to the Ramot Gimmel neighborhood in Jerusalem.
Her father was known for his dealing with rare books and his vast knowledge which helped return books stolen from the Rebbe’s Agudas Chassidei Chabad Library in Brooklyn in the “Didan Notzach” case.
He later turned to alternative healing, helping people around Israel and the world with medical conditions and physical problems. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 58.
Chana battled a terrible illness in recent years. She passed away today in Israel.
She is survived by her mother Sara and siblings Nechama Dina Cohen, R’ Mendel Zirkind – Maui, Hawaii, Schneur Zalman Zirkind, R’ Levi Zirkind – Los Angeles, Aidele Zirkind, Mrs. Mirel Weinbaum – Dix Hills, NY, Shaya Boruch, Chanania Yosef, Batsheva and Bracha.
She is also survived by her grandmother, Mrs. Raizel Zirkind, whose husband Rabbi Eliezer Zirkind OBM was the Rebbe’s sofer.
The Levaya will take place today, Wednesday at 3 pm from Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem to Har Hazesim, Chabad Chelka.

I was with Suri last week in Hadassah, holding her hand, when they told her there wasn’t much more they could do. we talked about maybe bringing Chana home for hospice/ palliative care -a few months, maybe longer;.no one thought it would go so fast. she suffered so. Suri you have cried many tears these last several years..may all those tears be transformed into joyous ones very very soon. YOU were one devoted amazing mother.. BDE Chana and Reuven Schoenberg
