A chassidic Chabad Jewish man was stabbed by three people claiming to be supporters of the Islamic State terror organization.
Tzion Saadon, a history teacher at a Jewish school in the southern French city of Marseille, was tabbed on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the attackers approached the teacher, asked if he was Jewish and then stabbed him. They also shouted anti-Semitic obscenities.
French police official Laurent Nunez said the 56-year-old victim’s life is not in danger.
It comes as France is on heightened alert after last Friday’s terror attacks in Paris in which 129 people were killed and over 350 others hurt.
The atrocity, which was claimed by the Islamic State jihadist group, was the worst in French history.
Please say Tehillim for Tzion ben Luisa.
In October, a rabbi and two Jewish worshipers were stabbed outside a synagogue in Marseilles following Shabbat prayers. The knife-wielding assailant could be heard shouting anti-Semitic slurs at the time of the assault, Times of Israel noted.
There have been a series of attacks on Jews in France in recent years, including the shooting at a kosher supermarket in Paris in January, in which four people were killed. In March 2012, a teacher and three children were shot dead in an attack on a Jewish school in Toulouse.
