is Yossie Jacobson invited to talk?
May 14, 2012 6:08 pm

if not, Chabad was not invited. If Chabad doesnt have a say on the organization or at least a speaker to bring the Rebbe’s opinion on such matters Chabad was not invited.

kol hakavod to real leader. he does not say that the chasidim should not go, he explained clearly why he cant and wont go. he also mentioned why they did not call lubavitch and that every leader , rabbi , menahel should strenghthen the subject of how to avoid the pitfalls of the internet. he knows too well the problems it has caused. but as the real rebbe , son of the berach moshe and grand nephew of the heiliger rebbe , vayoel moshe , of whom he is so much like him , he know the shita and will… Read more »

solution to the problem..
May 9, 2012 8:22 pm

If anyone suffers from the problem of internet addiction should listen to the shiurim focusing on Shmiras Eynayim in english short clips very helpful in Yiras Hashem. listen to one every day on your mp3 player. http://www.guardyoureyes.com/component/zoo/item/windows-of-the-soul-group

Even when you are alone, where nobody can see what you’re doing? I mean, you don’t even have an urge to do so? Wow! You must have tremendous self-discipline, otherwise, some may think you’re not normal.

the only reason they r inviteing chabad is becuase there haveing a hard time filling up they hate you people DONT GO!!

But we are NOT so separate
May 9, 2012 2:54 pm

To 43:

In the summer of 82, some major Rabbanan (not Lubavitch), sensing some kind of trouble for Yidden, due to world events, declared a half-day fast for everyone. In our Yeshiva, the Hanhala said that Lubavitch is participating so as not to show that we are apart.

yechidus????
May 9, 2012 11:15 am

why dont you write the details about the yechidus he had with the Rebbe?

Lubavitch Sympathizer
May 9, 2012 10:40 am

1.R. Yonasan Eibeschetz and R. Yaakov Emden lived long lives. Their talmidim who involved themselves in sichsuchim did not. This should be a warning to all of us. Reasonable people can agree that the Lubavitcher Rebbe and the Satmar Rebbe, and yes, even R. Schach were all ohavei yisrael regardless of personal animosities if in fact they existed. Why should we go down the drain by throwing schmutz about people, each of whom is greater than we are. These rabbonim are all in olam haemes where their issues are properly resolved. I assume the RBSO does not need us to… Read more »

Get over yourselves
May 9, 2012 9:40 am

Why is everyone getting so sensitive. Since when do we care what people think about us? Just do what the Rebbe wants from us and forget about this asifa. Our job is to bring moshiach, not gain popularity. I am proud that everyone knows that Chabad is different from the rest.

Why So much Controversy
May 9, 2012 8:55 am

Why does everyone see controversy in something as pashut as Rabbanim getting together?

Haha
May 9, 2012 7:40 am

I spy a blackberry right under the skulener rebbes eyes.
Is there a filter for blackberrys?

We can now appreciate why we (almost) never participated in joint efforts concerning Yidden or yiddeshkiet b/c you can’t mix with others when your agenda & goal is ONLY the betterment of Yidden or Yiddeshkiet as opposed to otherwise. On the subject matter itself (internet accessibility) there isn’t a quick fix solution; but in general it’s like saying don’t buy a car b/c it can take you to places………… (no I’m not saying it’s the same I’m just trying to impress upon you that the solution to the problem of internet browsing is NOT by banning it b/c that is… Read more »

I remember clearly that in 5730 or 5731 the Rebbe said that
anash should attend a Melava Malka sponsored by Skulen in Crown Heights.
The Skulener Rebbe zl came and spoke words of praise of the Rebbe and Lubavitch.

question
May 8, 2012 11:56 pm

will there be a webcast of the event so women can watch?

Rabbi Osdoba
May 8, 2012 8:45 pm

Rabbi Osdoba brings kovod to our Beis Din. Leible Altein is a superman he should be well and continue his great work of hafotzas hamayonos

to the Niklusberge Rebba Askonig came
to Chabad the most prominent Rebba came and invited our Rabonim and sad if not for his weeknes he would come personal to them.
what a Kidus HaSham

May have to get rid of it

I had to get the computer out of the house. It was fun figuring ways to get around the filter. But, ultimately the computer had to go.

Chabad
May 8, 2012 5:05 pm

ItS Impossible to invite CHabad, bc they need to invite hundreds of Rovs
Rabbi Osdoba only represent ppj from CH.
wow internet is going to be Prohibited for ppl from CH

May 8, 2012 4:33 pm

If you are rejecting their efforts, I have no doubt you are going to become a major activist to take care of the internet on a local level. I have no doubt that the only reason you are criticizing is because you are going to get to work immediately to fix the problem locally in CH and/or Lubavitch

The Most Important Part!
May 8, 2012 4:26 pm

So what happened during the Yechidus? What was the relationship between the Skulener Rebbe’s father and the Rebbe?
More history less hysteria!

Chabad Speaker
May 8, 2012 3:43 pm

Would they ask a Lubavitcher Sliach to speak?

moishe
May 8, 2012 3:41 pm

why do we try to get invited to places that we have no intrest in going to then we look even worse why dont we just mind our biz and not worry about things we have no shaiches to

This is really awesome :)

Facts
May 8, 2012 12:14 pm

The Asifa will do nothing but curse out the internet and all modern technology, that serves no purpose. Rather educate on a local level of the dangers and the possible solutions, this may work. Its not worth embarrassing the Rebbe and ourselves just to show Lakewood that we are like them.

IRONIC

I LOVE HOW THE SHAMASH BEHIND THE REBBE IS CHECKING HIS EVIL BLACKBERRY

19:
May 8, 2012 12:01 pm

At least he admitted he has a problem. Yedias hamachla is a halbe refuah. BTW, even if you have no yetzer hara whatsoever (I doubt people like that really exist), what about all of the people that will borrow your phone, computer etc. perhaps they will be michshol on your account of not having a “gog” (v’asisa maakeh lgogecha applies even if you never intend to personally go on the roof). By the way, I think an un-or-underemployed yungerman who is savvy, should start a small business in installing filters on PCs and Macs. Lastly, it seems absurd to boycott… Read more »

You walk with blinders on. Ask any yeshiva educator (mesivta or zal), community rov or Rabbi Sternberg from OT, how many people they know of who come to taaneh that they have spend too much time online (not learning chitas and rambam on chabad.org), and have ruined lives v’dal (a word to the wise is sufficient).

By the way, I’d love to know what Rabbi Sternberg’s opinion (allegedly he is a go to guy in these issues) is as to whether the Lubavitch kehilla should attend.

What an honorable thing to do!
May 8, 2012 11:36 am

The Skuleneh Rebbe is a remarkable Tzaddik and a real Mentch to try to repair the damage done. Surely, he has the best intentions and we must recognize it for what it. Comments made by other organizers have not been retracted, and never will be. However, I assume that in the future more thought will be put into what is being said. While this new sensitivity won’t be sincere, it really doesn’t matter. So long as Machlokes as this is avoided in the future. About the Asifah: Whether you attend or not, at least recognize that all the benenfits of… Read more »

Did they ask mechila by the Rebbe?
May 8, 2012 11:18 am

The Alter Rebbe says in the first Perek of Tanya ואפילו מי שיש בידו למחות ולא מיחה נקרא רשע (even one who had the opportunity to protest and he didn’t is called a Rasha [Gemara Shavuos, perek 6]). The Skulener was present when the Rebbe and Lubavitch was maligned and excluded from Klal Yisroel (yes, there is a tape, nobody can deny it anymore [don’t worry it will come out soon]), and he didn’t protest, and now we go kiss his feet and beg for an invitation? Sad joke, but it seems that a few ignorant young activists decided to… Read more »

Who came to the Satmar? You didn’t answer that.

They came to the Nickelsburger Rebbe who is much smaller than Chabad.

It is quite obvious that these people are begging to get invited.

May 8, 2012 11:07 am

if you REALLY wanted to stop
you would put a STRONG filter
but the yetzer harah ……………..

Who cares if we're invited or not?
May 8, 2012 11:04 am

The “Rabbi” from Lakewood has to retract what he said. He has USED Lubavitch’s services in the past when it benefitted him.

Is that the gabay in the internet?
May 8, 2012 11:02 am

Is that the gabay checking the internet while the Rebbe is railing against it?

Did they really invite Chabad to the asifa? After indicating they were asufa?

Creative, very creative…

Get a clue
May 8, 2012 11:02 am

#8 – what did you expect them to do – go to the Ohel to invite Chabad? Or should Skulener Rebbe (who is a real thing) come and hand out flyers on Kingston Ave?

Get a clue!

May 8, 2012 10:33 am

whoever thinks internet, facebook, isn’t a problem in chabad is blind. Marriages are shattered, pure temimim are lured away, minds full of shmutz, Our girls too. I dont know if this asifa is the answer but we must do something, not be as blind or stupid as satmar to say it isn’t our problem.

May 8, 2012 10:25 am

you can also access filth and shmutz. Ask any mashpia or rov how many people come to them with internet addictions. I know because I have one myself. Yes it is great but it is also terrible – there definitely needs to be some kind of control

Internet!
May 8, 2012 10:06 am

Intenet is the best thing that happened to Klal Yisroel. With one click of a button you reach out to thousands of Jews throughout the entire world with live Shiurim, Devrei Torah etc. One can google any Mamar Chazal in Torah and have it at your fingertips.Pity it was not created years ago.

Reb Yitzchok #1.
They may be out of touch with today’s youth. But they happen to be IN TOUCH with the future of Klal Yisroel. I will go to this Asifa and you should also go. Maybe we’ll learn something. Afilu ven es shmekt nit.
Avrohom.

Disappointed.
May 8, 2012 9:42 am

Chabad went to be invited? They came to the Satmar not he went to them.

What, are we begging to get invited?

Ya!
May 8, 2012 9:33 am

Oh please! The Skulener Rebbe himself said they shleped him into this.

Report
May 8, 2012 9:32 am

This report is a joke doesn’t say nothing and does not explain why Lubavitch is not participating. Beside this Rabbis don’t represent Lubavitch neither CH.

Respect
May 8, 2012 9:29 am

What a beautiful picture. So special how this Rebbe is reaching out with true ahavas yisroel.

p.s. To #1: Shame on you for the way you speak. Have you no respect?
Plus, the gathering is to encourage filters, actually, not to ban the internet.
