Chabad at Texas A&M University, led by Rabbi Yossi and Manya Lazaroff, is raising $200,000 to support their yearly activities.
Help them provide Jewish students with support – emotionally, physically, educationally, spiritually, and socially. Chabad provides the university’s 300 precious Jewish Neshomas with care and love, giving Jewish students the warmth and comfort of Shabbat and holidays.
Chabad at Texas A&M University recently made headlines when a student member became the first Shomer Shabbos college football player who is competing in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) football season, taking place during the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season.
Sam Salz, originally from Philadelphia, joined the Texas A&M “Aggies” football team as a running back in the middle of the season and has been training with their squad since.
Salz told COLlive.com that he is proud to be Jewish and that he does not hide it. Now in his second year at A&M as an undergraduate, he is seen sporting a yarmulke and tzitzis on the field and around campus.
Outside of school and football, Salz frequents the Chabad at A&M. He often arrives at the Chabad House early in the morning to daven before dashing off to train with his team.
The inspiration he felt from those experiences helped to strengthen his resolve to continue living as a frum Jew even while pursuing his career in sports as the first Shomer Shabbos college football player, Salz said.
Help Chabad at Texas A&M provide experiences like these for thousands of Jewish students.
“Coming from California, I was nervous to not have family and community, boy was I surprised. I felt welcome from the moment I met the Chabad, I now have family in Texas,” student J. Cohn said.
Another student, N. Yaari, said, “I feel so comfortable at Chabad, whenever I am there, it feels so open, warm and homey.”
