Chabad’s soup kitchen “Eshel Ashkelon” in the coastal city of Ashkelon in the South District of Israel, 8.1 miles north of the Gaza Strip, has a good chance of winning a large grant.
Chabad is currenly is second place in Bank Leumi’s One Million Good Reasons and the last day of voting is Monday, December 27.
First place can win them over $55,000.
“A concerted effort on the part of Anash and Shlucim can still move us into 1st place,” Ashkelon Head Shliach Rabbi Mendel Lieberman told COLlive.com.
“This last day of voting can still make a difference,” he said.

I have met many people in israel and around the world that know Rabbi Leiberman from Ashkelon. Everyone of them have told me what a special person he is. I have never met him but I was in Yeshiva with one of his sons. He gives the same impression.
