A large group of prospective teachers attended the orientation for a Teacher Training Program at Beis Eliezer Yitzchok in Crown Heights, launching the 5769 semester of the Menachem Education Foundation (M.E.F.)
The introductory plenary address was given by Rabbi Zalman Shneur, director of the M.E.F., and Rabbi Yosef Simpson spoke about the benefits of joining the educational sector feet first, with the confidence to teach proficiently as a result of training.
Rabbi Levi Kaplan explained the student /teacher mentoring program. This program allows the students a hands-on teaching opportunity with guidance from an experienced educator.
The teacher training course covers many subjects, such as Classroom Management, Teaching Methodology and Lesson Planning, Identifying Developmental Disability, and Building Religious Growth. The lessons focus on bringing back the excitement for ‘old style’ chinuch through modern teaching methods such as Differentiated Instruction and Understanding by Design (UBD).
Rabbi Shneur said, “I am privileged to work and learn together with these gifted mechanchim towards an improved and enriched education for the children of our communities,” acknowledging the team of experienced and skilled educators who are graciously sharing of their knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of the community children’s education.
The Menachem Education Foundation is endorsed by Igud Menhale Yeshivos.

This is a wonderful program and should be established through out the country. This will act as a bridge between the the Lubavitch and the community
Yasher Koach to Rabbi Zalmie Shneur! We are very proud of your accomplishments. May you go from strength to strength! We wish you and all the teachers much luck in achieving your most worthwhile goals.
I heard that this program is also open to bochurim. The schedule is excellent, whether you are in Kollel or 770.
Kol hakavod and hatzlocho raboh to zalman shneur for this second round of teacher training for our yeshivos! Imagine what our educational systems will be like if every hired teacher is trained! You definitely are raising the bar, and turning “teaching” into a desirable position – it makes everyone do their best: hanholos, staff, teachers and most of all, our kids gain the most! This program is one of the most important and best things that is happening in Lubavitch today. You should build and grow it mechayil el choyil!
zalman shneur is an amazing, phenomonal, brilliant, great, special person. this program was very much in need in this community and he got it done. a big yashar koach. may he do many more great things.
Great idea. Much Hatzlacha!
yasher koach rabbi shnuer!
this sounds like a beautiful program.
wishing you a lot of sucess with it.
They should make classes like these MANDATORY for ALL crown heights teachers. Some of the teachers do not know what they are doing!!
We can use some more good teachers in this world!
Shkoiach
This should become a worldwide project. A hearty congratulations to the initiators of this vital program. Perhaps the next step is to also provide a forum to prepare prospective individuals to become qualified principals of Chabad schools.
Thanks to zalman schneur and everyone else working on this project, its about time someone is doing something abou the education in lubavitch!

Congradulations on this excellent initiative. Being learned in torah, even if one is a Talmid Chochom does not qualify one to be a capable teacher. It is about time that having a teaching qualification be a prerequisite for all Jewish Studies teachers.
