Decisions, decisions, decisions.
Choosing the right camp for your child can take up more time than you would have ever wished for. Do we send them to the one with state of the art facilities? Or is the learning program the most important element for us? Care, atmosphere and directorship are just some of the other factors that need to be weighed in.
There is indeed one camp that stands out with all these qualities, the “trendsetters,” you can call them.
For more than 50 years, Gan Yisroel Detroit has been at the forefront of Lubavitcher camps around the country in setting the standards for an action-packed summer, encapsulated by Chassidishkeit and Hiskashrus. No two summers are ever the same, as the dedicated staff work tirelessly for months and months creatively scheming and planning to give the campers a summer like none other.
Right from the very top, the directorship finds ways to give each child the personal care they need along with much to take back home with them.
“Parents give up a lot to send their kids to camp and they expect them to be taken care of both physically and spiritually in the best way possible. This is a responsibility we take very seriously and have been doing so for over half a century,” said one of the directors.
Joining this team of excellence are once again Rabbi Bentzion and Simi Shemtov who will be joining camp as one of our on-site directors, together with longtime camp directors Rabbi Moshe and Leah Shemtov.
Bentzion and Simi have extensive experience running children’s programming and have directed the Kinus Tzeirei Hashluchim/Os and the Young Shluchim/Os Winter Camp in Florida.
Just recently the extensive and beautiful campgrounds have gone through some major changes to enhance the overall experience of the staff and campers alike. The bunk houses have all been redone and the heated pool and adjoining bathhouse are sure to delight.
At the forefront of this year’s program are head staff that can have you resting assured that your children will talk of nothing else until next year when they happily go back to CGI Detroit.
With creativity, energy and a true passion for instilling Chassidishkeit in the next generation, they are underway with preparing each detail of the upcoming summer to make CGI Detroit 5776 the best summer ever.
The girls head counselors for the summer of 5776 are:
Goldy Wolowick (Cedarhurst, NY)
Shana Shemtov (Washington, DC)
Shimona Rapoport (Seattle, WA)
The head staff for the boys division will be announced very soon.
Registration is now open so visit www.CGIDetroit.com and a big decision will be off your shoulders.
