It is the dreaded disease that almost everyone in this generation has been affected by: cancer. Those who have dealt closely with the illness, however, know that the physical ailments are only half the battle. Cancer takes a harsh financial toll, often leaving large families with no way to pay the most basic bills.
Assaf Gad, of Tel Tzion, had to leave his job when he got sick. His wife Chana spends her days and nights by his hospital bedside. Their children come home from school each day to babysitters. Their parents’ presence is sorely missed. As is the presence of warm clothing, decent shoes, and chicken dinners.
In a heartbreaking video, Assaf and Chana share what it’s like to be the parents of a large family shattered by cancer. Chana breaks down in tears as she describes trying to take care of the house alone, without her husband by her side.
The Gad family are now in crisis: their finances are taxed to the utmost and they have no way to pay for Assaf’s continuing treatment. In a moving letter Chana begs us to save her husbands life, “My kids need their Daddy. Please help us save him.”
Donations are being accepted for the Gad family now via The Chesed Fund. Funds collected will go towards helping Assaf’s family pay for his treatments and other necessities. Don’t let the tears of a distraught mother go unanswered.
